SOURCE: Miele vacuum cord reel question
I had to take off the cord reel and clean the contacts inside it. I also bent the contacts out since they tend to wear down after time.

Don't know if this will help you out or not. it is for a different model, but the hose layout is about the same.

There are more star screws than you think. Under the cover over both wheels there are two on one side and one at the rear of the other. Getting the covers over the wheels off is a task. They are only snapped in but getting them out is a fluster. Also under the brush assembly are several screws. This thing is secured better than a tank. Good luck..Took me an hour to figure out where all the screws were located...

It is actually simple when I tell you, Here we go...
First, open the lid and take the bag, and hepa filter out of the machine.
With a slot screwdriver, pry the hinges of the bag door out a little and take the bag door off.
You should see one screw holding the black black panel, remove that. When that is out, you can pull the black panel off. It will give a little resistance to you, do not be afraid of breaking it, it will come off.
Next you will see 4 or 5 screws down the holes there, remove all of them and the final remaining red piece will come off. When you pull this off, it will have both the cord rewinder and the motor assembly attached to it. It will be heavy becasue of the motor. Before you pull out the cord rewinder, just have a look at it closely and you may be able to just fix it without removing anything else.
good luck with it.

just renew the cord but instead of a wind up thing i would just put a length of new cord on and just wrap it around the machine when you put it away ,or fit a hook on the side of the machine to wrap the wire around ,200 dollars is a lot of money here and for 35/40 euros i can buy a nice vacumn cleaner ,For 200 euros sort of money i can buy an industrial machine on wheels with a 3kw motor for cleaning the cars with and the mrs uses it around the house as well ,and its a wet and dry machine as well
Hi If the power head isn't working it may be clogged. Try taking it apart to see if threads and general dirt has got in at the sides. Also without the power head if the Miele still isn't working then its a possibility that the on switch wiring is either loose or check the plug at the end of the power cord.
