Question about Dell (04U621) for Latitude D600, Inspiron 600M Motherboard
IAbout a week ago, my 4-5 year old Dell Inspiron 600m notebook started giving my warnings which I didn't understand what it meant as it said something about a driver error. I figured that since I was having trouble getting my DVD to pop out that this was what it was referring to. Due to the holidays, I waited to take my computer in and just a day ago it went black and started making a clicking noise in one of the compartments. I took it in and they diagnosed it as a failed hard drive. I was told the comp. is still in good condition and that I can simply replace the hard drive.
1. Can anyone suggest some way I can get information off of my crapped out hard drive. I backed up much of my info, but I have about 100 pictures and 300 songs on my comp which I neglected to transfer.
2. I am worried this might not be the only issue as my dvd slot will no longer open. I remember the screw falling out that used to "lock" the drive in, and since then the release lever has popped out and I shoved it back in. Now I can't get the release lever to spring out the drive anymore and I can't get it to open period to insert a cd. I am scared to know if this is broken as well and if and for how much it can be replaced.
I very much would appreciate any assistance or advice. I know someone who can install new parts, but would also welcome advice as to whether or not it is worth it (cost effective), suggestions as to where to get cheap deals on parts and if I can possibly grab anything off of my old hard drive?
Thank you very much for your help in advance!!!
I use a program called DATA DOCTOR RECOVERY
I think they do a demo at their site.
it has worked a few times in recovering very damaged hard disks
as long as the disk is running you have a small chance
hope this helped
