Element? You need to make sure it's not running your garbage disposal or anything else. Also it couldn't hurt to pull it out, turn it on it's side and take off the base plate. These machines are notorious for leaking into themselves and rusting themselves out at an early age. LG won't help you if it's rusted. Well, they prolly won't help you anyway but if it's rusted, they won't honor any warranty and you'll never get resolution because the CSRs are the only ones empowered to make the decisions. These usually don't completely break until the machine is out of warranty. Call LG sooner rather than later if you're still in the warranty period. Fisher paykel heater plate replacement

The problem is the thermal fuse in the bottom drawer which shuts of the controller power. But the thermal fuse is part of the heater assembly. So you will have to replace the lot.

It is not an easy procedure to replace the heater assembly as the whole system is intervined with the pump and motor components.

You will have to disconnect all wiring and hoses from the base of the drawer once you have it out after removing the transparent plastic wiring cover.

Then you have to release the locking ring to remove the pump and motor assembly along with the heater plate.

Hope this helps. please rate the solution if ok otherwise drop a comment.

Rust spots on bottom rack

You may need to replace the rack. Dishwasher soap is aggressive and once an area is exposed, it will rust fast. Make sure you don't place sharp objects in direct contact with a rack. The action inside the washer can cause them to move and rub through the metal rack coating.

When the machine operates a lid comes down on the top of the drawer. This may be jamming.
On the side near the front at the bottom there are 2 plastic slotted screw heads, turn these to horozontal and pull out the "screws" this will release the drawer from the runners and you can lift off the drawer and possibly see whats jamming.

My viking dishwasher does not rinse the soap scum off the dishes

Maybe . . . remove the lower rack and invert it. Look for cracked or missing plastic coating, exposed, rusted & possibly "swollen" inner steel rod/wire. If found, remove the upper rack and look for more of the same. What you think is "soap scum" is probably rust and other iron compounds leached by the dish soap out of the rusted steel onto the dishes and the dishwasher interior. The following worked for me . . .

To clean the interior (with both racks removed), set to "No Heat" dry, then "Pot & Pan" wash and allow to fill. Open door, dump in a bottle of "Lime A-Way", close & latch door and allow to complete cycle. This should remove most rust and iron-sulphate deposits from interior. If not, scrub them with Lime A-Way and a ScotchBrite pad, then cycle again.

Racks must be replaced (Viking are very expensive, Asko, Bosch, or other lower racks may fit: check your neighbors' racks for fit), upper rack must be Viking unless you can exact-match the Asko or Bosch equivalent.

Possible fix: remove the loose plastic coating and flaking rust with a knife, ruff plastic coating with ScotchBrite, clean with rubbing alcohol, then treat metal/rust with "rust converter" (hardware or home imp store), wash with soapy water, rinse, then clean with rubbing alcohol, dry fully, coat with "high temp" (orange or yellow) silicone sealant (auto part store), covering exposed metal and a half inch or so over the plastic coating. Let set for a day or two.

A trip through the dishwasher for all your stained stainless, glasses and non-metallic coated or non-metallic decorated dishes with Lime A-Way as above (on new or "rebuilt" racks) should get the metallic scum and rust off them.

RE: Fischer paykal F1 code

F1 fault means the flood switch on the base of the dishwashers has been activated.
nine times out of ten its the lid motors.
You can remove the two kick plates on the bottom of the dishwasher.
Dry out the water in the base with a sponge.
only one draw will be leaking water??
This allows you to use the second draw until a serviceman shows up.
Dry the base out A.S.A.P, because you have a electronic board that sits on the base. cheers

Same thing just happened to me. There was a slight leak from the top drawer and it wet the tray on the bottom which caused a short and the circut board and the plug to the top drawer melted. I need to replace the board and wiring harness and am looking for a manual to find out how to remove the faceplate on the top drawer. What you should do first is remove the bottom drawer and check dry the bottom tray if it is wet. There are two circles on the side of the drawer on either side. Turn these with pliers and release the plastic clips on the ends of the drawer slides. you will then be able to pull out the drawer and inspect. Good luck
