SOURCE: how to remove bios password for Toshiba Satellite A200

If you know the current password, use it to enter BIOS SETUP.
Then, type a "blank" ("space-bar") as the "new" password.

If you don't know the current password, you're stuck;
this is a "security" feature to prevent a stolen laptop from being used by the thief.

To change or remove the BIOS Password, it's necessary to know the existing password. Otherwise, it can only be removed by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider. To locate a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider (ASP) anywhere in the world, visit Toshiba's Global ASP Locator at:http://pcrepair.toshiba.com

SOURCE: how do i reset the bios password on a toshiba

Usually, there is the CMOS battery located in your laptop's main board. You just have to take that battery off for like 3 minutes and then return it back. You will have to open your laptop's screws underneath. If this laptop is still under warranty, do not open it as it will revoke the warranty seal. Just take if to an authorized service center and let them do it for you for free.

    You might check to be sure that the drivers for the sound card are current (check in device manager for that)... you also might want to reinstall the drivers for the sound card and see if that helps.

    Sometimes Satellites get a little flaky when on battery power. If you haven't already, plug in the power cord with the notebook cold - meaning off for about a minute. Boot the notebook and try to do the setup with the power connected. If that solves it, it should work fine when you switch to battery power. If it doesn't, repost with your results.

    Remove the battery, and the memory cover (1 screw), and the memory module(s). Under the bottom memory module, there is a white sticker (the bigger sticker)... remove that, and there is a small copper lead labeled J2 that looks like two E's mated with each other, you need to short the E's to each other for about 30 seconds with something metal. Put at least one memory module back in, and the battery, and try booting. If it still has a password, try again for a little longer, or press a little harder with the metal object to ensure you are making a connection.

    When u send it out, did u take note of what u had.Memory,hard drive(h/d) size, etc. A virus only attacks the software ( changes & or damages ) drivers. If the virus damages the h/d , it is PROBABLE to physically damage it, but not usually possible!! goto the Toshiba web site, u will have to buy it, they don't like to give those things away.
