  22. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
  23. Press 0795 (this sets key 5 – the DVD button flashes twice)
  24. Done - the remote is now programmed and ready to use
Now to make your player region free
  1. use the Sony remote that came with the player to bring it out of standby and wait while HOME is displayed
  2. Make sure there isn't a disc in the machine.
  3. Now on the OneforAll remote press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (The blue 24p light on the player will start flashing)
  4. Put the player back into standby with the Sony remote
  5. That’s it, the next time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback
  6. If the blue 24p light doesn’t flash then it hasn’t worked, try a new set of batteries and start a fresh
An alternative is a OneForAll URC 7562.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Because this is a Sony player you will have to call the Sony Customer Service number associated with your player to have them instruct you on changing your region code. By default today, it should be worldwide. This is form court case law.

Sony co holds the patent on DVD players and as such there are rarely if ever now, region code hack. They will instruct you or do it for you on your request.

Sorry, but you do own a Sony. Sony is leading the fight against copyright infringement. They make it nearly impossible for a quick trick solution to unlock your region code.

You will in fact have to call them or go to a Sony Service Center. The courts have clearly spoken out in favor of the consumer on these Region Codes and Sony is under court order to change the Region on your request. That means you have to ask them and they will change it for you. Families in the military face the most problems with this issue and they know to just take it to a Sony Center where ever they move to.

This is the number for the Sony Blue Ray Disc Player Tech Support: 1-866-909-7669

You will probably have to be quite firm and insistent and in the end you may not be able to change the region code with out visiting a Sony Service Center.
