Had a radio installed it flicks or pops frm time to time but this maybe causing my fuse to pop and my car wont start. Had put a relay switch on about a month ago.helppp

If there is popping sound and the fuse blows when the radio is flickering, then it is usually a short in the stereo wiring. The short results in excessive power draw and blows the main fuse. The radio must be removed to check the wiring behind. In some less common case the radio itself may be shorted inside becuse a defective PSU. If you have installed an amplifier check also that the problem is not the amplifier ordinary power draw, in that case the problem is fixed installing a capacitor in the amplifier power wiring.

10amp fuse keeps popping

You haven't specified anything about the model number or other details of your amp. Yet I assues that the 10AMP fuse that blows out is in the path of DC power supply. If so, something direct short after that fuse. In most cases, it will be in power amplifier stage; and trouble in the output. Without rectifying this fault, never switch on the set, or put an other fuse higher than the rated specified in the circuit. It will lead to more trouble and complicated remair works. OK.

I just replaced an amp and now the inline fuse by the battery keeps blowing

Most likely you have your power and ground connections reversed on the amp. That will cause the fuse to blow immediately upon contacting the two sides of the fuse. If the fuse stays intact for a short while but pops after turning the amp/car on and your connections are correct then there's a problem with the amplifier and it either needs to be serviced or replaced.

EA3422 Car Audio Amplifier: Keep popping fuses...

Check your ground and power wire connections. It will most likely be a bad ground, if grounded in the trunk, get a longer wire of equal or greater thickness and ground to either chassis or battery. Also if you have the amp at full gain try dropping it a little back if getting a better ground doesnt help

I have an mtx thunder 81000 d the inline fuse keeps popping

When installing an amplifier of this size and current draw - the fuse is NOT ON THE AMPLIFIER.

This particular amplifier has a built in thermal shutdown protection only.

If the INLINE fuse is failing... only 2 things that would cause it....

1. Fuse rating too low - The current draw + wire resistance is greater than the fuse allows.

2. There is an immediate ground situation. There may be a screw though the power wire - the wire may be worn where it enters the firewall - or there may be a strand or 2 of wire jumpering from the Power terminal of the amplifier to the chassis (of the amplifier)

The recommended external fuse rating is 150A for this amplifier. Please be sure you are using the proper fuse for the amount of current draw this amplifier requires.

If there is an additional amplifier drawing from this feed - add the fuse rating of that amplifier to the INLINE fuse.

ALSO - be sure your wiring is of the proper gauge. I/0 wire is necessary in this instance - (or 2 runs of 4GA) as it has less resistance to the current. Utilizing an insufficient power wire will also lead to the INLINE fuse blowing.

If you have additional questions or concerns - feel free to ask.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

The two 5 amp fuse inside the amplifier keeps blowing

That must be the inrush current.
Maybe you are using the wrong fuses.
Please check if those are fast or slow types.
You need slow types.

Good luck,

Keep poping the 40 amp fuse on the amps itself when the volume is up at all it seems

Your units drawing too much current. it could be a wireing problem, a speaker problem, or the amp has a problem. the correct way to troubleshoot this would first do or have the amp bench tested. Or you can remove all the speakers and wires and turn up the amp. If the fuse still pops, have the amp serviced. Good Luck
