Look for the belt that wraps around the roller or look for hair or thread stopping the roller from turning at ends or middle.

Dyson DC23 canister vacuum turbine head stops spinning. Red on/off circle does not start the brush. If we cover the rubber 'u' gasket a tad, it will start spinning again normally. Putting the cover on does...

Hi Jyn, it's Jack at Dyson.

The rotating brush bar in DC23's Turbine head is powered by the vacuum's airflow. From what you've described, it sounds like there may be a blockage somewhere in the machine that's affecting the performance.

To locate and remove any blockages, please take a look at our online Support guide and follow the steps shown on each of the pages: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/check-telescopic-wand-step-1-turbine-head

In normal use the pre-filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, using cold water without detergent. Even a filter that appears to be externally clean may still need a wash as fine dust particles may be contained within the filter material. The correct method is shown in the video attached. Make sure you allow the filter to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

We would advise against attempting to modify the Turbine head in any way, as this could cause damage not covered under guarantee. If you'd like some further advice from our experts please feel free to give us a call - our contact numbers are: 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

F7441-980 brushes won't turn

Paul:

Turn the vacuum over and remove the foot plate. Check the belt and manually try to turn the brushes. If the belt is OK, the brushes need to be removed and the roller bearings at the end of the brushes cleaned (hair, fibers, dust,) I remove the roller bearings and shoot them with alcohol while turning them until they turn free, then blow the alcohol out and lube them with one drop of light machine oil.

I have dyson dc28 animal brush not turning how to fix

Your DC28 is not an easy machine to diagnose why the brush roll will not turn. If cleaning the hair and dust from brush roll doesn't solve it the first thing to do is replace the PCB. If that doesn't solve it then you need to install a new power nozzle assembly.
These repairs should be done by a qualified technician.

Actually have model 6594. no suction. any suggestions?

If you hear the motor running and the vacuum is not sucking up debris, I would believe you have a problem with the beater brush. Problems with this brush are usually caused by 1 or 2 if not both of these problems: 1- The drive belt for the brush is broken. 2- The brush itself is frozen due to debris. Remove brush and clean all debris off. Pay special attention to end pieces of the brush that hold it in the vacuum. The brush should rotate around these two pieces. Clean ends and spray on a little WD40 and turn to work it so that the brush turns freely. If you find the brush is frozen and needs to be cleaned, probably a good idea to put a new belt on at the same time. Be sure the belt is put on correctly so the brush turns in the proper direction. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

My roomba keeps telling me "error and to clean the brushes. I have cleaned the brushes and when I turn the roomba back on it keeps clicking underneath the roomba. I'm not sure what else to do.

I had the identical problem. I cleaned the brush but the problem persisted. I then put in a new brush that was provided in the box and the problem vanished. I have since used the cleaning tool on the old brush and will try and reinstall it to see if my cleaning worked. In any case a new brush will do the job.

Roomba keeps saying clean brushes yet are clean!

Make sure you take off the little cap at the end (the one that spins -- just grab it and pull it straight off) and clean under it too. The rest of the brush may look perfectly clean but what happens is that hair gets stuck under spinning cap and, like a slowly growing washer, it pushes the whole brush toward the gear box. When it gets pushed over enough, the large yellow ring starts to rub against the side of the brush deck making it harder for the motor to turn the brush and you get that "remove and clean brushes" message.

Brushes not working

brushes not turning are usually caused by the turbine bearings have seized. The turbine cost is about $35 average. on the bottom you can check a pull out filter to clean. there are also 2 screws that are recessd check by hand for tightness that hold the turbine. checkthe brushes for cleaning and free of debris. check the square shaft on the brushes as well. take it to a trusted vac shop who works on hoovers if you are not mechanically inclined for this type of repair.
