Adobe PageMaker Plus 6.5 is for Win2K computers. It is not compatible with Windows 7. I suggest an upgrade of your software to Adobe InDesign, which is compatible with Windows 7.
Hope this helps.
Error 115 when installing Adobe FrameMaker 7.0 or 7.1 on Windows
Do one of the following solutions:
Solution 1:Disable anti-virus applications, and make sure all 3rd party applications are closed before installing.
Solution 2:Copy install files to HDD are run setup from that location (Frame installer lives in FM directory)
Solution 3: Remove all files from %temp% and %windir%\temp and reinstall Background information
Error 115 from the InstallShield help reads as follows: "Specified
file cannot be opened as write. An attempt was made to overwrite a
locked file belonging to a file group that does not have the Potentially
Locked or Shared property set to Yes; an attempt was made to install a
file with a long file name (or to a folder with a long path name) in a
16-bit setup; or the path to the target folder is invalid."
I'm afraid you have a problem. Windows 6.5 doesn't run well on Windows XP, and PageMaker 7.0 can't be installed on Windows Vista at all and there is no patch for it, so most likely, your PageMaker 6.5 won't run on Windows 7. Sorry. :(
I'll research a little more and post if I find anything different, but I'm pretty confident that it won't run.
Hi. You'll be better off downloading and installing the tryout for Adobe Indesign than PageMaker. InDesign is the improved version of PageMaker and it can open your old PM7 files. With your current PC specs, you can definitely run that software.
First, verify that you are installing on a compatible platform and OS. If you meet the minimum requirements, do you get a specific error during installation, or does the install complete but fail to run the app? If the install fails, check your CD for dirt or scratches - since you said you 'acquired' it, I assume second hand media and that it may be damaged. If it is damaged but you have a valid license, Adobe may replace the disk for you if you can prove legal ownership - usually a small fee involved. If it fails to run, include the error message for aditional guidance. Hope this helps. DigiChick
