Question about Zyxel G-4100 v2 WirelessHot-Spot Gateway - 1 x WAN, 4 x LAN - IEEE 802.11b/g - Wireless Router (G4100RV2)

1 Answer

Serial number overlap after factory reset

I had to reset my ZyXel G4100.v2. The account logs have been retained over the reset, but new accounts start from S/N00001 and are now duplicating accounts in the original log. I need a method to 'bump' the S/N so it continues from the entries already stored in the logs (e.g. 700+)

There is a work around for this issue. The account logs can be sorted on date, which puts the latest entries on top of the pile, irrespective of the S/N.

Sounds like it may be a hardware fault. Have you tried resetting the router? I don't have the exact model but there's almost always a recessed button on the back which can be pressed with a paperclip or something similar. Holding this for a few seconds will reset the router settings to their factory defaults.

The default Zyxel password is usually 1234 or admin.

did you removed your router and currently using a modem? if that is the case then the whole User Interface would be different when you open that address 192.168.1.1 because this could be a linksys router's default gateway address and it was removed from your network.

Forgot my Logon and password?

That router was normally only given out to people that work for a pharmaceutics company. If you still work for the company call the IT department and they should be able to find out what they had set for the wireless password. If you don't work for the company any more then you will probably need to reset the router to it's factory defaults in order to get into the settings. To reset it you'll need something small like a paper clip to hold down the reset button on the router. Hold it for about 15 seconds. Once it has been reset the wireless name will either say ZyXEL or Wireless. You should be able to connect to it and then log into the router from your browser using 192.168.1.1. The login for the router will be 'admin' for the username and '1234' for the password. Once you are logged in you can go to Wireless on the left side of the screen. In here you can set up the wireless password again. You'll probably want to use WPA-PSK.

The dsl light keeps flashing green or yellow on my netgear dg834 v5 router n i cant get on internet but it works with my netgear dg834 dg834 v2

The fact that it works ok with the dg834 v2 means you have a DSL enabled line and also connection to the internet
You also have all the configuration details within the V2 Router - you will need to know your ISP account password
Now on the V5 router - do a factory reset - theres a small hole at the back of the router 1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds). 2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

Still cant solve it.

The default address to get to the web interface is 192.168.1.1

The default password is 1234 (No username required)

If that doesn't work, you can restore it to the factory default by pressing the reset button on the back and holding it in for 10 seconds. Be aware that doing this will erase all existing configuration information.
