SOURCE: homelite backpack blower ut08083 or ut08111 engine

could be two things from description the first is the carb needs a clean out and the second is the metal flap behind the engine cowl has corroded awy reducing its size ,most likely is the carb though as its one of them funny ones designed to work at any angle like a chain saw.So firstly try cleaning the carb out and see what happens ,these always get choked up when not used regular as when put away teh carb isnt drained so petrol evaporates leaving a fine white coating which can and does block the jets up

Homelite leaf blower wont start?

take off the air cleaner and squirt a little ether *(know and starting fluid) into the intake and see if it runs for a moment or two.

If it does you have a fuel system issue. Either the carb is blocked or you have a broken/split fuel line. You may try running a fresh batch of fuel with system cleaner in it to see if that resolves the carb issue. The fuel line is just something you can look at and check for damage and replace as needed.

Be safe and good luck!

I have recently obtained a Homelite "zip start" trim n edge string trimmer. What fuel mixture is recommended for it?

Modern Homelite equipment uses a 50;1 fuel mixture. That is 2.6 ounces of 2 cycle mix to 1 gallon (U.S.) of gasoline. I highly recommend to use a quality 2 cycle oil that is designed for lawn equipment. I also recommend to use a mix that contains fuel stabilizer. This will usually be in a 3.2 ounce bottle.
Always use fresh fuel, it prevents problems in your equipment.

Good luck!

I have a Homelite Mighty Lite 26cs gas weed **** and the starter cord will not retract into the weed ****. How can I get it to retract so it can be pulled to start the weed ****?

This is somewhat common in the the "zip start" machines. The recoil pulley is 2 plastic housings with a round coil spring between them. It is designed to need less effort to pull and start the machine. When pulled on with great effort/frustration, the middle spring bends and damages the upper housing. The only semi-permanent solution is to replace the pulley assembly. The part is relatively cheap thru If you can do it yourself, go for it. A repair shop will most likely charge you $20 to $40 in labor to do this.
