Question about Kenwood KDC-V7022 CD Player

Flips up and down continuously

The flip down part of the radio just folds up and down continously and will not stop, when the radio has power to it. I am not sure if it has something to do with the removable face plate or not. If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix this problem it would be greatly apprecited if you would share. Also does any one know where to buy the things to take the radio out (the things you slide down the side) of the car as I have lost mine.

Re: flips up and down continuously

As far as I know, the tool for removing is pretty specific to the model, so the only way I know of is to take the panel off the dash (or wherever), remove the screws holding in the harness, and manually pull it out.

DEH-P9600MP front flip half opens and switches system off.

I also had this problem and the solution was to change the data bus, or if you want, you can pull out a little the data bus.

Koss car radio,cd,mp3

I'm not familiar with that particular brand/model, but a lot of the models with the flip down face will actually have the eject button behind the face. So when you flip down the face, you can then hit eject.

KDC-X869 Face Flips Halfway, Unit Turns Off

I have worked on many of these radios and there is a lever that contacts switch to determine position of face this lever wears out and switch does not operate properly causing radio to lose its mind. This is usually the cause of this failure unless flip gears have been damged somehow. contact for additional info

Pioneer powers off when face plate opens.

My first guess would be that the ribbon cable between the flip face and the mother board has gone bad. This is a very, very common problem. I'd suspect that above everything else at this point.

it needs a new ribbon cable. Some car audio repair shops stock these (mine does). Part is about $20-30. Labor will depend on the shop.

My head unit is awkward.

Check the wire braid going out to the faceplate. Although this is a fancy feature. it is very problematic. But usually it looks like a flat plastic strip with brown stipes on it. Sony calls it a flexible circuit board. after so many flips wires break the buttons stop working and when the face gets just is the right place it stops turning. but is repairable if you can order the braid from Kenwood about a skill level five to put in.
