Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Samsung SyncMaster T220 monitor which has recently had staticy red vertical lines in black spaces, pale blue lines in blue sections and a certain shade of pale blue displaying pink. I tried connecting a different computer, using DVI and standard cables and this did not solve the problem. Today I started the computer and it auto-adjusted itself to a resolution that was too high for the whole screen to display. The problem was still showing at this problem. I restarted the computer and the problem seems to have disappeared. I need to know if it is likely to recur as I was about to make a warranty claim.

This was not effective. A replacement monitor has been sent to me and I have had no problems since.

Sounds like your monitor has croaked. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend or family member just to see if it works. If it works, your monitor is bad. If the borrowed monitor has the same issues then your Video Card in the computer is bad and needs to be replaced.

In your monitor panel you'll find 4 buttons. Press the menu button and get into Magic Bright. There you can choose the one that best suits you. You can even set to Dynamic contract where the monitor adjusts the brightness according to the elements on the screen

I have a syncmaster t220/t220g monitor, I have had it for about three weeks. It just started to dim on varous screens (random) not sure why.

If the screen is getting dim to the point where you can't read it, it might be due an intermittent backlight. If this monitor is really only three weeks old, you might consider returning it to the store where you purchased it and exchange it.

My acer laptop with windows xp will not allow me to select the optimal resolution for my samsung moniter. How do I fix this?

The Samsung SyncMaster 730b is a 17-inch analog and digital TFT-LCD monitor delivering crisp, clean text and bright, vivid colors. This display offers a 600:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 1280 x 1024 resolution, 160/160 degree viewing angle, scanning frequency of 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical and 0.294mm pixel pitch
The SyncMaster 730b display offers the option of using either a digital or analog interface for viewing images and text. The Digital Video Interface (DVI) ensures a shaper, cleaner image and a more accurate representation of the original video source. Since video starts out digital in a PC graphics card, the digital output is directly interfaced to the digital input of the LCD panel and always provides the optimum quality image. In addition, no adjustments are required with a digital display, even when randomly changing resolutions. Input connectors for this display include 15-pin D-sub and DVI-D. Available in black, the SyncMaster 730b delivers a maximum of 16.2 million colors. The monitor is Windows Plug and Play DDC 2B compatible
The important stuff here would be the following:
(1) 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical
(2) SyncMaster 730b delivers a maximum of 16.2 million colors
(3) 1280 x 1024 resolution
nVidia card settings should not exceed these monitor parameters. The monitor is not designed for more performance output without increasing liability toward failure. ?. Put your card settings, under the nVidia tab, at the following:
(a) Refresh rate set at 75 Hz
(b) Set colors at 16 million
(c) Set resolution slightly less than 1280 x 1024
It?s quite possible your monitor is at fault, but start with its optimal parameter settings for the display card first. The display card probably exceeds the monitor?s capabilities. Hopefully, this will stabilize your PC session and the blank outs cease if hardware is not faulty
