There is almost nothing that can be fixed by yourself if your not trained in high voltages and advanced circuitry now days. This sounds like it could be your color guns going bad or the power supply.
This set also has an issue with The tv convergence board, require 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems.
This tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead. The tv convergence board, require 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems. The shop will, cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
Sounds like you have Bad FBT Flyback Transfomer
to be sure you need to remove back and see where arking is coming from? Mats Electronics has Parts for this TV.1-800-628-1118 Let me know if you need anymore help.
You will find small 1/2 or 1watt resistors close to the ic's, you must measure them and they must be exact ohms. I believe you'll find a couple open or have changed in value, I hope the new Ic's haven't been fatigued. That should fix your problem.
I have a HD56W58 and it had the same problem. One day the picture went blank and then it made a loud popping sound and smelled like something burning. Now it will not turn on. Has this happened to anyone else? I
yes thats the right board if those two resistors are open the convergence ICs will need to be replaced as well. Its an easy repair. Heres a link where you can order the parts and recieve free installation instruction. If you need me to post the STK numbers and values of the resistors
A clue to what is wrong is by looking from the back (taking the back off) and looking to see if the three picture tubes have any yellow glow at the bottom of them where the three identical boards are located on each tube.. If you have no glow there you possibly have a resistor R4703 open. It is a 3.3 ohm resistor and feeds the voltage to the filaments in each tube where the glow is suppose to be. If you do have the glow the problem could be much more complicated. Another to check is to see if the menu comes up on the screen. You could possibly be in the wrong input mode, Check your input mode with the input button on the remote The number R4703 is a location number to identify where the resistor is. This is all I can tell you that would not require much more complicated procedures requiring a tv repairman to look at it. If you have an ohm meter you can check R4703 but it must be checked out of circuit. (or at least one leg loose) Hope this helps
