My Canon MP780 will not power on.

I have tried a different outlet and a different power cord. I suspect the power supply is bad. What do you suggest?

This is what the service manual says;
(1) Check the power cord
connection.
(2) Check the connection between
the SPCNT board (JPSU1) and
power supply unit.
(3) Replace the power supply unit.

If you printer will not turner on, plug it into a different know working outlet.
There could be physical problem with your printer or the power cord / supply could be supplying faulty power or none at all.
Send it back if you can,

Stopped working...is it a fuse wrapped around the power cord that could be faulty?

no that is a graphite ferrol just to cut down noise it may receive from other devices. check the voltage with a meter on the power supply. If it plugs direct into a/c from the wall, the power board is most likely bad in printer. then it's a throw away.

Pixma MP780 Can't turn on

To move the print cartridge without power to the printer: Grab it with your hand and slide to the middle. It may offer slight resistance and while not an expert, I doubt damage will be caused.

No power. Replaced pwr. cord.

Check that the power cord has been properly attached and that no damage has occurred. Also try another outlet on a different circuit.

No power getting to printer

This is due to the Power supply depending what country you are in i can offer you the part number but you will only be able to buy this part from a canon service company like myself, but im in the uk.

If the power supply does work work it will be down to the main board. if you had a service engineer out he would test the power supply to see if it was working to work out what part he needs.

power supply: HY7-2921-000

hope this helps

How old is your computer? Did you recently have a power outage or anything? Most the time if a computer won't turn on, something in it went bad OR an outlet is bad. Try this:

1. Make sure that the power switch is on, the switch in the back (on the power supply itself) is turned on, and everything along those lines is functioning.
2. If that doesn't work, and it will not power on AT ALL, make sure the cords are plugged firmly in place, including the surge protector and/or the power cord itself.
3. Try resetting the surge suppressor and/or plug the computer into a different outlet in the surge suppressor. Try other items in that surge suppressor (or even in the wall outlet, if that's what you're plugged into) to make sure that the outlet itself is working.
4. If your computer is plugged directly into a working wall or surge suppressor outlet, try a different power cord.
5. If your surge suppressor works, your wall outlet has power to it, and you are using a known-good power cord in the computer, you will have to go into more in-depth investigation as something inside the computer likely went bad. It could be the video card, motherboard, CPU fan, power button, or the power supply itself. Start by testing the video card and the power supply by (one at a time) swapping out a known-good component for the one you suspect may be bad. If it won't turn on after that, try swapping out the next and try it again. If it still will not work, it could be something more serious such as the motherboard or power button.

Good luck!

it could be a bad power supply or a bad motherboard. Other problems might cause issues, such as a bad video card.
