Question about Mustek MP70C Portable DVD Player

Open Question

Wrong region error on Mustek MP70C DVD player (no remote!)

I have had this dvd player for YEARS and, well, the remote is the size of a credit card, so yes, I lost it. Somehow, the player must be set on a different region that it was origanally set on, because it will only play certain DVDs. I dont have the remote, and cant find a remote compatible with it, so the code will not work. I KNOW there is a way to get to the region menu without a remote, because I've bumped something before accidentally and it popped up, but dont know what button it was. PLEASE help, this is what I do when I'm bored!
Thanks so much!

SOURCE: portable mustek dvd player

try this: power up your dvd without a disc. using your remote keypad input 9735. a secret menu should apprear. select your region code or choose 0 which will allow all discs to play. this will work with the mp70c but not with all mustek models. other solutions are available with an exhaustive google search

SOURCE: PL607 Not Operating

Do not buy any portable appliance with Mustek brand. After-sales support is very poor. The only solution for this troubled unit is through it in your trash can.

SOURCE: I power it up and insert a disc and it says Wrong

If you have relocated then the region code may need to be changed. However using region 0 is most practical. Clean the optical head of the player with a CD/DVD cleaner too & see if it responds............sodeep

WRONG Region error . Philips DVD65K

Each DVD player is designed only to read discs froma certian region of the globe, and they are labelled 1 through 6 (or ALL). Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.

You might need to adjust the settings by pressing the LCD button then using the up/down/left/right arrows on the player or remote to change color or brightness. If this doesnt work, your screen might be shot. There isn't much you can do if thats the case.
