Question about Sony VAIO VGN-N130G/W Notebook

Sony laptop VGN-N130G will not boot.

Info: Window failed to load because the system registry file is missing
or corrupt, I can not find my recovery disk. and will not boot in safe mode. can creat a boot disk and boot from there, If so what file to I use, and where can I creat a boot disk?

Use any windows xp disk boot from it and use R key to repair windows then type fixboot

Free reboot program windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt. That's what I'm getting.


The registry is the file that connect all the other files of Windows together. If you don't have a backup for it then the only thing you can do is to reinstall Windows. If you need to recover some files before that then boot from a Linux Live-Cd and copy them to another external disk or memory stick.

Will not boot up past the message I describe below


You might reload your Operating System to correct this. Insert your Recovery disk into your drive, choose DVD as Boot Option, recover your OS.

Try this: Reboot and select Recovery Mode, then from the c:\windows prompt type: chkdsk
Let it run through checkdisk then try it should boot up.

Sony VAIO VGN-N130G PROBLEM


download knoppix (http://www.knppix.net) and burn it the .iso to CD. You will be able to boot just from the CD-ROM and back up all your photos to thumb drive.
