Question about Refrigerators
Lights on inside the refrigerator however the digital display is not working and the refrigerator is not cooling. Refrigerator is getting power. I reset the breaker in my basement (althought it wasn't tripped) and everything worked for a few minutes, and then went back out again when the compressor kicked on. Everytime I unplug it and plug it back in it works, but only for a few minutes.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

please check the air flow to the refrigerator side. it could be a stuck damper motor or damper thermostat. if the fan inside the freezer is running, you should be able to feel cold air coming out off the vents in the refrigerator side. you might have to press the button light switch on the panels to run the fan.

Check and clean the condenser. Unplugging the system allows it to cool off. when you plug it back in it will cool until the heat rebuilds if not rejected through the condenser. Make sure the condenser fan comes on when the compressor runs. A faulty fan motor will cause the same type of problem.

a full size refrige has to be on a 20 amp circuit, a 15 amp is just not big enough.. you should also know that this circuit has to be on a 12-2 gauge wire.. I also highly recommend installing a 20 amp HD receptacle

Check the thermostat which is located in the top left hand coner of the refrigerator. Also check the relay on the compressor to make sure it is not staying open all the time. Also there has been a huge recall on Maytag side by side refridgerators made between 2001 and 2005. I would also try calling Maytag and get the problem fixed by them by recall

The auto defrost heat element is not working. When the ice buildup clogs the airflow the unit stops cooling. Once you unplug it and give it a chance to melt it works again. You need to have the defrost unit replaced.
