Question about Craftsman Garden
Recently I changed the mower deck belt and thought it would solve it but it didnt. The problem happens when Im moving forward, it sqeeks /grinds so then I put it in neutral or go reverse then forward. this started to happen in last month and bought a drive belt but has not replaced it yet. does anyone know how to fix this? I plan on using tractor during winter season.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

There is a pin in the back by the hitch - make sure it is pushed in. If it is pushed in then check to see if there are any oil leaks under it.

I also have a Craftsman tractor with the same problem. Sears repairman said it needed a new transmission and it would cost $1,400 to install. A new one is about $1,000. Anyway, if you remove the battery and the battery tray under the seat it will expose the transmission fill hole (hex). I opened the top and it looked empty. I had a bottle of 90 weight gear oil in my shop and filled the transmission to the top. I have not had any problems with it since. $4.00 bottle of oil verses a new tractor is worth a try.
