The XP setup disk does not have the correct driver for your disk controller. Download the correct driver and save it to a floppy. When you boot from the XP install CD look for the prompt at the bottom of the blue setup screen that says "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver…” at the bottom bar. Hit F6 and follow the prompts to specify the driver on the floppy disk.

I can't install winxp on my asus p5gcmx 1333,the setup runs for few seconds and it hang blue screen...how to fix this problem?pls. help

The Blue Screen that you are getting at such a early point in your software load could be caused by
your system memory.. You didn't mention if this was a new system or a existing system that you are
updating, I have seen a hard drive cause this problem. Did you reformat the drive before starting
the install.

Windows XP Blue Screen

change your ide cable or sata.
Reset your bios settings pull cmos cell from motherbord for minute so all settings are defaults.
Also boot your computer with winxp disk then if you able to enter in setup then go to recovery console mode and run "chkdsk /r' command .
Also check your harddisk is master set jumper in master position .

I cannot install OS winxp onto sata drive pc is Acer aspire x3200

Hi,
There could be two reasons for the blue screen either a bad harddrive or loose memory cards in the slots. Try reseating the memory cards on the motherboard.
Also please post back the Stop code you are getting on the blue screen

WinXP Won't boot after installing a second hard drive

I'm guessing maybe the IDE cables aren't connected properly, or the jumpers need to be set for cable select. Are you sure you configured the jumpers correctly for the master/slave setting for that particular drive?
Then again, when you enter the bios setup at boot does it recognize the second drive, but xp fails to boot, or is the bios also failing to recognize the 2nd drive? If that's the case, and the bios is set correctly, your drive may be at fault.
Check your bios setup,
If all that's in order, all I can offer is a couple links that might help you to sort it out.
http://www.pcmech.com/article/installing-a-hard-drive-step-by-step/
http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/install-hard-drive.htm
regarding partitioning, http://www.theeldergeek.com/hard_drives_09.htm
And here's a link to a bios primer, that may shed some light on your situation.
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/bios/index.htm
I hope this steers you in the right direction. Let me know if you get it sorted out...

When i was trying install winxp the system haunged up

Usually when this happens it is either a physical hard drive problem or a hard memory problem (sometimes it is other hardware but more than 90% of the time it is of these two components) . Google and download DFT, burn it to disk following the manufacturers instructions, boot the system to it and do an advanced full test. If that comes back clean, Google and download Memtest and follow the same steps. If both of these comes back clean, it is possible that there is some other hardware issue. If doing a full install be sure to format the disk, if doing a soft install (repair install) then you may be forced to do a full clean install.

Windows XP Pro installed but computer boots to Home Edition

It sure is possible.
I would take it back to them and demand that WINXP Pro is put back in there and it boot correctly
They saved about 50 bucks putting in WINXP Home.

Sounds like a bunch of rookies trying to pull a fast one.
