This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for future recordings.

I had my G9 repaired to fix a spot that developed on the sensor - since then the camera has not taken the quality of zoom photos that it used to and just recently the video does not focus or zoom. Already...

The only place I know of that does outstanding work on the Powershots and is actually reasonably priced is www.camerasandparts.com They exclusively service the Canon Powershots only and their work is outstanding! If you get their service package for the G9 image problem it fixes the spot in the image problem. They only charge $89 for everything, parts, labor and shipping back included and they clean and service up the camera at the time of the repair. They're the place for help with these Canons, good luck with the problem.

My canon powershot g9 will not turn on

Your camera probably developed a common short that the G9's sometimes get. You'll need to have it serviced and if you go to this site: www.CamerasAndParts.com they service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they are excellent on these models. It's $89 with them and you get parts, labor, servicing for the camera, and most important they perform the no power correction on the camera too. Shipping is included on the way back with them too. For $89 they're tough to beat. They are experts on these models and the only place I'd go for a Canon Powershot. Good luck with yours.

My Canon G9 Powershot will not switch on at all. It was working fine then the next time I tried it would not switch on. It was not dropped or was it exposed to water. It about 3-4 years old. The battery...

The Canon G9 has a design defect, two screws fall out inside the camera and short out the fuse. If you've never had it fixed for no power before this is most likely what has happened to your camera.

Do a Google search for "canon g9 no power repair" and you will see a full repair service including return shipping of your camera for just $85.

Hope this helps!

Canon G9 does not turn on. Battery is fine, so are tabs for battery.

Your camera likely has a short. Look for a shop that can fix digital cameras, they are all familiar with shorts and that sounds like the problem you have.

My cannon g9 camera stopped working. the lens is stuck open and it won't turn on. Any suggestions?

Common no power problem on the G9, you just need to get it serviced. There's a great site that only services the Powershots, they're amazing when it comes to servicing these models. On the G9, they do a fix in the camera so the short never happens again which is great, plus they service up the rest of the camera. They don't charge much and they're amazing if you need help with a Powershot. Try them, their site is: camerasandparts.com Good luck, that's the best place if you need help with a Powershot problem.

Battery good but camera won't turn on

There's a problem that comes up on these G9 POwershots and it causes an internal short resulting in no power, you'll need to have the camera serviced to have this fixed. The best place for the Powershots is: www.camerasandparts.com All they specialize in is service and repairs for Powershots and they're amazing if you need help with one of these. The neat thing with them is they perform the correction automatically so you never have to go through this power problem again on your G9. They charge $89 for the total service package for the G9, the repair, the correction for the no power problem and the shipping going back are all included. They're tough to beat and they know their stuff when it comes to the Powershots. Best of luck with it.
