Question about Dell UltraSharp 1702FP 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor
This monitor went from working to not working. At first I thought the fuse in the plug had gone but it's fine. Not sure if there is a fuse on the input internally. Reluctant to just play with it as the PSU is internal to the device so I'm potentially working with 240v not just 6/9/12v. Pretty sure it's not just an inverter/backlight problem as the front panel lights usually show something in that situation even if not connected to a PC
Check the power light, if it is faintly blinking then this link should help you get it going. That model is well known to have a problem on the control board that causes the monitor to not power up right.

SOURCE: DVI input on monitor not working
Contacted viewsonic about this issue- they suggested- have both dvi and vga hooked up to same machine. start with poweroff on both. power on monitor, then power on computer. when you see display coming from the vga, power off pc, then disconnect vga cable, turn off power to monitor, disconnect power cord from monitor for 5 + seconds, reconnect power cord, power on monitor, then power on pc.
If this doesn't work to get the dvi working, (as happened to us) we returned our monitor for a replacement, since it was still under warranty.
