Tried a Kodak Extension remote cable and slide transport now inoperative

Projector worked OK until I tried using an extension cable in between the Elmo handset and the projector. The cable was made for a Kodak Ektalite projector, and appeared to have the same number of pins. Now both the handset and the buttons on the machine do not operate the change mechanism in either direction. Have I blown an internal fuse?

Take a closer look at the pins on the remote cable and the socket on the projector. Their are 5 pins on the plug. The top 2 pins are closer together than the bottom 2 pins. It is easy to rotate the plug 180 degrees and with little extra pressure, push it in. If the pin / plug interface is rotated 180 degrees, the remote control will appear non-functional. Check that first. Then try plugging the remote into the projector without the extension to eliminate a broken wire in the extension cord. Verify that the on-board cycle buttons will cycle the projector. If they do, and the projector won't work with the remote control, then there may be a open circuit inside the projector. You may need a factory-trained technician to help you with this one!! Good Luck !! Jim

SOURCE: No manual or remote advance on kodak 35mm carosel

You didn't specify the model, but chances are that the cycling problem is caused by a broken "link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid plunger to the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic, and gets brittle & cracks over time, rendering slide change non-functional. Parts are still available (www.micro-tools.com), but this is an involved repair requiring disassembly & a service manual - - best left to a factory-trained repair dealer.

SOURCE: problems with using a 140 carousel on a Kodak 4600

There is nothing wrong with your slide trays. Your projector needs an adjustment to the cycle contact assembly. The constant cycle mode is a dead-giveaway. You need to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer for this adjustment. Should be relatively quick - - it takes longer to get the case apart than to make the repair!

SOURCE: Kodak Carousel 600 Projector - mechanism stops with slide out

Open the back up and spray just a LITTLE bit of WD-40 into the cavity where the bit of spring emerges from the grease covered cam shaft. This will loosen up the grease that has dried up. It may take up to half an hour to work on the grease. If things are improved but not perfect, repeat. If any WD-40 spills out, mop it up with Q-tips and especially avoid the rubber belt.

Please do NOT advance things manually ans especially don't pry apart any of the plastic or metal cams on the cam shaft in an effort to correct the timing. You will put it out of waht and it will take a whack of time and/or an expert to get it back in whack!

SOURCE: will not change slides forward/backward, remote focus ok,

Your problem is most likely caused by a broken wire under the control panel or a wire somewhere in the "cycle circuit" that is no longer connected. You should seek out a factory-trained repair dealer who has a schematic that can trace down your projector problem.

SOURCE: Projector works fine, but will not advance slides.

Try a different tray (preferably a Kodak 80-slide tray). If it works, then the problem is a tray problem. If it makes no difference, check the "SELECT" function. If that works, then your projector requires an adjustment to the slide change mechanism. If it does not work, remove the tray and push the "REVERSE" button 4 or 5 times (this will clear a mechanism jam if one has occurred). If you still have nothing, then chances are that the slide change mechanism drive belt is broken or stretched. try the diagnostic things I suggested. If they are no help, I'm sorry to say you need the help of a factory-trained repair dealer. Good Luck !!

I can not remove the slide tray need help please thanks

Not seen one for years, but from what I recall, the slide tray can only be dismounted from one position. Try either rotating the tray (carefully !) by hand until it frees, or else turn it on and use the remote control to rotate the tray one slide at a time until you can lift it free. Once you know the correct position, mark the tray and the projector so that you don't have this hassle in the future.

I'm looking for a manual for this projector.

I'm not sure what model Kodak Slide Projector you are searching for, but try Googling: Kodak "<specific model> owners manual". There are a number of sites that have owners manuals available. You can also try contacting the library of the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. They have an extensive collection of all things Kodak. Good Luck !!

jholsinger1,

It sounds like this is TV 1 that you are having this problem with the remote, is that correct? What has changed from when the remote was working till now? Was anything moved like the TV/receiver? You may have some type of interference with the UHF signal. Without getting more specific information, I'm generalizing the trouble shooting steps. Would you clarify if it's TV 1 or TV2. Please post to this site and I will respond back to you.

Based on your description & what I know about those projectors, I suspect the solenoid "link" has broken. The "link" connects the cycle solenoid with the slide change mechanism. Over time, this plastic "link" gets hard, brittle and cracks, rendering slide change non-functional. The good news is there are still parts around to fix your projector & get another 20 years out of it. You should contact a factory-trained repair dealer to affect the repairs. Good Luck !!

I am pretty sure that the projectors modified, marketed & sold by Navitar were Kodak projector bodies & slide transports. Assuming this is the case, a Kodak 80 Tray should work just fine!
