Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

In copy mode I can't get Image Quality to change from Fine

Pixma mp780 will fast print from pc but when I want to photocopy, I can't change Image Quality from fine (meant for photos). This is very slow and very expensive in ink. Image quality button used to give options of fast, normal or photo. Has a setting been altered? I have tried turning mfc off for an hour to see if settings would resume but it didn't help.

I've tried everything and the user's manual is not helpful. It's frustrating because the other options will change but the image quality appears to be locked on fine for copying

I have the same problem. I used to be able to make copies, but now my printer will do a fast print from the computer, but when I try to make copies it is stuck in fine photo mode and it keeps spitting out blank copies. What is causing this??

My hero! Thanks for that, saved me alot of money as I'd rung both Canon technical advice as well a some accredited repair people to who all said I'd have to bring it in for repairs/replacement buttons possible. Hope this solution worked for the other people with the same problem.

I had this problem and your solution fixed it. Thanks so much! This is generally an okay multifunction printer but getting quirkier all the time so it's great to be able to get help like this.

The setting in paper type seems to lock the Image Quality. Set the paper type to plain and then you should be able to change the Image Quality.

Need to print darker black copy with canon pixma mp780

Click Start, Click control panel, click printers and faxes, right click your printer, click properties, click printing preferences (near bottom of window), change print quality to high, click apply, click ok, close all windows and try. this will slow the printer slightly.

My incoming faxes won't print. both black ink cartridges r full

Is there any message when you try to print the faxes?

If there is an "Image Quality" message, probably the printer is set up to "Copy" in "Photo" or "Fine" mode and it needs to be set to something other than "Fine" or "Photo"

How do I change image quality

I presume you are trying to copy something on your MP780.

In the "Copy" mode, press the "Image" button beside the LCD screen, then use arrow keys to change to another quality, then press"OK" button and the machine should be set to go.

MP780 copy mode/resolution

Mine was stuck on fine photo resolution too and it wouldn't print in normal black. I tried lots of things and the only thing that seemed to work was pushing the photo button and then pushing the copy button again. Good luck.

Did you check in the software? There should be a print quality option in your driver software.

Print quality

Paper type must be set to "Plain" to select Normal or Fast for Print Quality. Every other paper type selected will automatically set print quality to Fine (Photo).

Can't change image quality

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.
