Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV22 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

DCR-TRV22 won't work and keeps ejecting my tape

It's a used camera that I got frm ebay. It started acting up shortly after purchase. It would beep and the eject symbol would flash. It used to just do that once or twice and I would eject the tape then put it back in the camera and continue shooting. Two days ago after loading like 5 hours worth of tapes it started to flash and beep and won't go back to normal. It's paralyzed my camera from functioning. when I turn it on now all it does is beep and flash the eject symbol, even if I change the tape

SOURCE: Sony DCR-PC100 does not eject (well not really!)

Don't think this is a complete solution, but it might help. Try checking out the buttons on the camera. I've got one of those same cameras but my problem is the ribbon cable in the cassette carrier broke and I'm on the hunt for a new one, and a service manual. By the way, how about emailing a copy of the service manual to me at ljmagnuson@aol.com. Thanks. I might be able to help further with a copy of that.

My Sony DCR-TRV240 camcorder won't eject the tape. The power and all camera features work, but it won't eject a tape.

I'm sorry that the Camcorder is not ejecting tape. Please follow the troubleshooting steps provided below and check the operation:

1. Please make sure that the battery is fully charged. 2. Perform Reset by following steps:

1. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD panel of the camcorder. 2. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds. 3. After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.

3. Perform a manual power reset by following the steps:

1. Turn off the camcorder. 2. Disconnect AC power adapter. 3. Remove the battery pack. 4. Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds. 5. Move the POWER switch to the OFF position. 6. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack. 7. Turn on the camcorder.

If the issue persists after following all the steps service will be required. You can find repair information and initiate service at:

I have flashing yellow looks like teardrop in yellow box. Top right corner flashing c:2100. tape won't go back in after ejecting.

This is usually caused by a failed component in the moisture detection circuitry within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

I put in a tape and hit record. The eject symbol flashes and won't let me record or play back footage. Sometimes it will eject the tape.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair the tape mechanism and can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Cassette does not eject

Either the tape is jamed round sound head, or the door is stuck with somthing like a handle of the case on side of camera, but sounds like tape stuck, run film backward a little (not forward) as more tape will get stuck in forward motion.
