SOURCE: lasko 2554 tower fan

Replace motor. Probably cheaper and less hassle to buy another fan, unless you are about principles and demand the company replace their subpar motor of an otherwise exceptional fan.

SOURCE: my lasko tower fan gets power n wont blow air

The bearings on the motor are dry and need oil. It's really not made to be oiled, but you may be able to take it apart and get some oil to the bearings if you want to mess with it.

Lasko 18" cyclone 1843 quit working is there a fuse

  • Lasko Cyclone fans have a thermal fuse (typically 130 degrees C) placed on the armature of the motor, connected between the input voltage line and the start capacitor. It is not user replaceable, since it is soldered, taped and attached to the armature with cable ties. When the motor overheats, the thermal fuse blows, primarily protecting against a fire hazard. Like most low cost Chinese manufactured fans, the motor uses low quality sintered bronze bushings instead of ball bearings to save a few pennies in cost. The bushing (each motor has 2) is surrounded by padding which is infused with lubricant, and the lubricant seeps through the bushing to lubricate the rotor shaft of the motor when it is operating. Unfortunately over time, the lubricant dries out or the bushings clog, causing the rotor friction to increase, resulting in the motor current increasing as it tries to maintain motor speed. This heats up the armature coils, causing the thermal fuse to eventually blow. While the thermal fuse can be replaced with some effort and the padding re-lubricated, eventually the same thing will happen because of the low quality bushings.

Fan won't blow on ac, but works on furnace

The fans heat speed is low speed and the cool speed is high speed. High speed is controlled by the fan relay normally open switch, the low speed is controlled by the temperature delay or time delay.

Heater blower only blows on low

This could be a few different things:

1.Check the power and ground connections on your blower motor, corrosion can cause high resistance and a slow blower speed.

2. Check your available voltage at the blower motor on the different settings. it should vary with high supplying 12volts, make sure to do this check with the blower motor still plugged in.

3. Connect the blower to a 12v power source and see if it runs at high speed.

If all else fails i would check your resistor pack, i would not suspect this because when it fails you usually just loose all speeds except for high, but it could happen.
