My digital camera SANYO VPC-E6 XACTI was purchased in the USA. Now, after only 14 months of use, it is "dead" -- no reaction at all, for any kind of command. Just blacked out, with no apparent reason (no fall, no water, nothing unusual). Here in Brazil, Sanyo does not deal with cameras, so they have no spare parts. They said also that they could do nothing for me. Any suggestions on how should I proceed? Many thanks for your advice.
Even in a Sanyo area where they do market cameras - I doubt if anything could be done- these things are made all of a piece - if its broke it stays broke. However -I am guessing here - I imagine Brazil has a high humidity climate. And high humidity is a killerr for this type of goods. Try the following. Take out batteries and with the eraser on the end of a pencil gently rub the battery contact at the base of the battery compartment. Do the same with the contact in the compartment lid. Take the card out and do the same with those contacts - very very gently. Now put the camera and the batteries[but loose not in the camera] and the card in a poly bag With some of those little bags of silica gel that things like cameras come in. or a small cloth bag filled with dry rice grains- suck the air out of the bag -bind it up tight and leave somewhere warm but dry for a couple of days. Then when you consider it has dried out - put it together and see if it will work. Come back let me know what happens
