Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

DISHWASHER WONT STOP UNLESS YOU MANUALLY TURN IT OFF

I PURCHASED A FRIGIDAIRE FDB520RHS DISHWASHER YESTERDAY. USED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY AND IT RAN IN THE WASH CYCLE FOR OVER 2 HOURS. I CHECKED THE FLIMSY USE AND CARE GUIDE TO SEE WHAT THE APPROXIMATE CYCLE TIME FOR NORMAL WASH IS. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE 89 MINUTES INCLUDING THE DRY CYCLE. I WENT TO THE FRIGIDAIRE WEBSITE TO TRY TO DOWNLOAD A USERS MANUAL BUT THEY DONT EVEN HAVE THAT MODEL IN THEIR DATABASE, NOR DOES ELECTROLUX. CLEANS THE DISHES REALLY WELL BUT CANT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED DUE TO POWER AND WATER COST.

Wow, I am just wondering is the water inside the dishwasher warm or hot? Or is it cold? IF it is cold it could be that the unit is trying to heat the water usually to 120 degrees. If it is hooked up to a cold water valve from your house this could be the problem. Or it is the heating element,.

Frigidaire FFB240 dishwasher won't stop

Good Morning AA1970,

I see that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FFB240, continuing to run unless you shut it off. While I'm not familiar with this particular model number, I suggest that you give the appliance a hard reset. You will do this by shutting the power off at the circuit breaker for at least 20-30 minutes. After restoring power, run the cycle. If it is still continuing to run unless you shut it off, I suggest contacting a local authorized technician for further assistance.

-Best Regards-

My frigidaire professional series dishwasher has no power

Hello qmainous - The issue may lie with the door latch; a door switch is used to start and stop your dishwasher. It's a safety feature that won't allow water to flow with the door open. With a faulty door switch, there is a chance your dishwasher won't start at all. Dishwasher door switches are about an inch long. They are usually black but can be red. There are metal prongs on the body of the switch called terminals. Some door switches have two terminals and some have three. If your door switch is OK, check the timer assembly. This controls when and how long power is sent to other controls on your dishwasher. If these controls don't receive power, they won't work. The timer assembly contains a motor. Check this motor as well. It is often cheaper just to replace the timer motor rather than the complete assembly. My last suggestion is to check the cycle selector switches. These switches indicate cycles for washing, drying, and setting the temperature of the water. If one of your switches is the problem your dishwasher may also prevent the unit to start. Dishwasher cycle selector switches tell the timer which cycle to run by opening and closing electrical circuits. Most selector switches are six to eight inches long. They are usually black and have terminals. By testing each one of these parts with an ohmmeter you should be able to determine why your dishwasher is not working. It is possible for other parts to fail but these are the most common parts to check. If any proves to be ineffective, I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

My dishwasher is making a load hum what its in a wash cycle. The model is a Frigidaire FGHD2433KM. What would cause this problem? David

Chances are it is a defective motor. The motor in mine went out three months after installaton and again nine months later, just outside of the warranty period. Frigidaire offered to replace it, covering parts and labor, as a "good will gesture" but said they would not replace it a third time unless I purchased the extended warranty. In my opinion the part was either designed poorly or manufactured poorly, or both.

Dishwasher is less than a year old. Once in a while it will stop about 10 minutes into the cycle, then the display lights will blink. Sometimes it will stop and the lights wont blink so we will come back...

I would most likely guess a faulty latch....it will cancel the cycle, thinking that the door has opened, and the lights will flash. After a certain amount of time, it might "time out" and reset and the lights would stop flashing. Unfortunately it's a bit of a guess, but the other option would be a bad control board.

Wont' turn on

Push the "Heat Dry" button for at least 5 seconds. After that you should be able to start your dishwasher. The owner's manual I have says nothing about this, but this is a "lock panel" feature for the electronic panel design dishwashers. I just had this problem and stumbled upon a service manual online. Saved me $75.00.

Knob wont turn - have to turn it manually!!!

Emsie, the model number posted has a electronic control so Im not sure where we are going with this. A couple of things to check. Some models have what they call a foam guard routine. This can cause the machine to stop several times during wash because of oversudsing. (too much soap). You want to make sure the water temp going is is at least 120 to 150 degrees. The heater will only raise the water temp 1 degree every 4 or 5 minutes. This can cause long cycles. You might have a bad timer. If you remove the toe panel there should be a tech sheet attached to it. This will give you good information on your dishwasher opertaion...Catriver..post back.
