Polaroid flm-373b lcd tv black screen with same problem. Took the advice and replaced the two each 1000mf caps with same value but 25v. Also had a 1000mf cap @35v that was found bad. Replaced with same value but 50v.

Fired up fine. Did a "Default" to return to factory specs and channel scan.

Works like new. Thanks for the help.

My Polaroid 37 inch flat screen tv makes a horrible humming noise and has vertical lines and no picture.

I had the same problem with no picture and used 35V caps from R.S. I actually found 3 caps that were bulging and replaced them all. Works great. Thanks again.

Count me in as well; the cable guy just left cause we thought it was the box they installed. I guess we were lucky because we've had ours for around 2 years with no problems.
Thank you for the help, I was really glad to hear I can actually fix it for a lot less than the factory or a repair person would charge.

I had the same problem as everyone else. The blue light would come on, but no picture. We would have to unplug and reboot several times to get a picture. The quality of the picture was going bad as well. yesterday, it wouldn't turn on at all. We followed the advise and changed to two capacitors, plugged the tv in and it turned on without a problem!! (you could see the capacitators were buldging) We will see how long this will last, but hopefully will buy more time for us. (we have never soldered before, but thought we didn't have much to loose, and it wasn't that hard!) It took less than 30 minutes and under $20 to fix vs the minimum of $250 polaroid wanted to charge us. If there is a class action suit, count us in!!!

Had the same situation as others, powered on blue light but nothing else, then unplug multiple times to get a picture. Finally nothing would work. Replaced the capacitors as was suggested and everything is fine. Installed Radio Shack #272-1032 1000mf 35v in place of the original 10v

I need help fixing a Polaroid FLM-3232 w/o power

I do not know what your problem is as you do not even describe a problem, but I dare say capacitors do not need to be bulged to be deffective.

Usually the ones closest to heat source are the ones to dry first; bulging can be result of a too strong current running through them too and not neccessarily related to heat.

Usually they are large and close to the connectors that carry power from the power board to other internal boards.

Other capacitors may also be affected, of course.

You can try your luck replacing them in order, bring the TV to a specialist or start reading the theory of repairing SMPS - you can find it online, an excellent read if you really want to get into it.
