Hi,

Manually delete the registry entriesNote Before you use this method, uninstall all CD or DVD writing or recording programs. Deleting the corrupted registry entries might cause problems with any other CD or DVD writing or recording programs that are installed on your computer. Uninstalling these programs before you start will help you avoid any problems that removing the registry entries might cause. You can reinstall these programs after the problem is resolved.

This method provides step-by-step instructions for how to use Registry Editor to delete the following corrupted Registry entries:

  • UpperFilters
  • LowerFilters
Step 1: Start Registry Editor loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); click on Start menu : Run : type regedit : press enter
Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry');
  1. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  2. Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.
  3. Expand Control, and then expand Class.
  4. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
  5. In the details pane of Registry Editor, on the right side, click UpperFilters.

Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only.
    • If you see the UpperFilters registry entry in the details pane of Registry Editor, go to step 6.
    • If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to "Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry."
  6. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  7. Click Yes when you receive the following message: Are you sure you want to delete this value?
The UpperFilters registry entry is removed. Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry');
  1. In the details pane of Registry Editor, on the right side, click LowerFilters.

Note You might see a LowerFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click LowerFilters only.

If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content is unable to help you any more. Go to the "Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  3. Click Yes when you receive the following message: Are you sure you want to delete this value? The LowerFilters registry entry is removed.
  4. Exit Registry Editor.
Step 4: Restart your computer loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); Restart your computer. After you have done this, try to access the CD or DVD drive. If you can access the CD or DVD drive, and if you do not receive an error message, the problem is resolved. You can reinstall your CD or DVD writing or recording software.

If you cannot access the CD or DVD drive, or if you receive an error message, unfortunately this content is unable to help you any more. Go to the "Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions to the problem.

There is a possibility that your hard drive has been physically damaged. I am saying this because unwanted sound and not being recognized are one of the symptoms of hard drive failure . So if the data is very important for you consult the data recovery specialist they will for sure help you out.

I already wrote disc but how to overwrite a disc

On a CD-R, if you don't finalize or write protect the disk, can you overwrite a file?

Or in overwriting are you simply creating a second file of the same name in the TOC/directory and deleting the name, only, of the first file

You can add more data if there is space on the DVD+R, but you can't overwrite it.

You see, when a disc is burned, little microscopic ridges are put onto the disc. This is your data.

You cannot overwrite this data.

It's kind of like trying to use a permanent marker on the same spot of paper twice.

How do i erase unwanted things off the cd-rw?

By the nero software you can write or erase the program from the cd or dvd RW. You can erase from the cd but cd is so sensible then dvd so that it might have dangerous to do that. Because it can lost all the data you have created before you have tried to erase the unwanted data. My safely instructions to you that take up a dvd and burn the data from the cd to dvd that you want.

I can read data cd but cannot read data dvd

Are you sure that the drive you are trying to read the DVD with, is actually a DVD drive and not a CD drive? Check on the front of the drive draw, it should say DVD on it. If not you will need to purchase a DVD drive to read DVD's. Nik.

When I put DVd in sounds like its loading then I get disc error playback not on this disk

Several possible causes
1. Laser read lens dirty - clean it
2. CD has become damaged & data cannot be read (does it read in other cd drives?)
3. Intermittent malfunction of laser read circuitry.
4. Process of elimination - if CD is readable on other drives, the problem is with DVD player. If cleaning does not solve the problem, the problem is DVD internal electronics.
