Benq PB8220 lamp used for 375 hrs shuts projector automatically

I changed the lamp on my Benq PB8220 projector at 1625 hours but was not able to reset the lamp usage timer. Now the projector automatically shuts off saying the lamp has exceeded it's limit of 2000 hours whereas in actualality it has only ran for 375 hours. I removed the lamp and re-installed it but was unable to reset the lamp usage timer. However the problem presists. Please advice. Thanks. Ash

Hi Ash, check your manual as by memory you can do this by a 2-3 button reset via the remote control. Regards Kevin Andreassend. http://www.iceav.co.nz iceavtech@gmail.com +64-9-4142348

It is highly unlikely that you will receive any quotes here; this is a repair website, the only sales would be through links on Fixya pages. I'm sure you can get info on price and availability at the BenQ site:

Light hours getting close to 3000, but picture still looks good, will resetting lamp hour hurt and keep using same lamp be ok. thanks david

No do not reset the lamp hrs. because the lamp might reach the ed of life and could blow resulting in mercury poisoning. If you notice there is a warning sign that pops up in red or something saying to change the lamp, it will shut down eventually during that warning time. You have gotten a lot of hours with that lamp and consider being fortunate to have such reliability. Buy a new lamp when needed as it will improve your experience.
