Question about Motorola SURFboard Computers & Internet
New purchase modem SB6121 was connected by our cable service provider but the blinking link line keeps blinking. I removed the Ethernet connector and replugged but it still blinks. How to set the line?????

Check the socket in either the router or the PC. I had the same problem, only with my modem. When I inspected the port, the pins were misaligned, causing it to drop a connection. I corrected mine with a screwdriver, which is not ideal but it works.

Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.
Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.

This usually means something is not correct with your incoming signal. If your cable wire into the modem is being run off an amplifier in the wall this could be effecting your service. If the signal is too strong the modem won't be able to communicate for internet.
You could check the incoming wire to see if it is running off an amplifier. If it is you would need to run a new line that is not on the amplifier. I would recommend comcast coming out to check the signal frequency and make the necessary adjustments.

Serveral soultions to try and they are at no cost to you. First, try re-booting the modem. Your modem stores cache just like a computer does, and it can build up on you. I myself unplug mine about once a week.. Two, in the control panel under Internet Opetion under browser history click on delete and confirm the delete, this will delete your temp. files. You might have exceeded the amount of cache allowed by windows. Finally make certain that you have ipx, and spx protocol installed on your comuter. If this doesn't help, I would get a new modem from your isp, more than likely it is bad. I know verizon modem are good for maximum of 2 years and average 1 year. I would recommend westell 6100 G moem and get a wireless router to go with.
