I have a Gateway MX6124 and cannot get my wireless to work. I have tried turning the wireless on (Fn and F2 together) but all that does is turn the wireless light on, and still does not bring up the...

You should check device manager to ensure that your wireless device is working properly. If it is, once turned on, you have to double click on the wireless icon on your taskbar usually next to the clock to chose your preferred network. If you need further assistance, please give us a call day or night at 800-595-3564.

Gateway left hinge broke

Definately an easy fix.

I suggest looking on eBay for a donor chassis.
Sometimes they can be had relatively cheap CLICK HERE (this one has both hinges broken however) - and sometimes just the parts you are looking for are available CLICK HERE (this is for the RHS one though).

An entire donor PC is adviseable, because usually the repair is not just the hinge that broke - as the rest of the lid is plastic!

Once the trim above the keyboard is pried off, you will see the monitor cable, and hinge screws.

The trim around the monitor must be dis-assembled and pried into 2 parts.
Then the hinge & Support are either screwed into the side of the screen, or the back of the lid.

Most look like this...

Replace reverse of removal.

HERE is a link that will describe it better and give you a visual reference.

Once the screen is free of the chassis - its time to remove the little rubber scerw covers in the lid, and disassemble.

Good Luck!! Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

Need to remove the screen from my emachines 5405 laptop

The laptop screen is secured to the laptop with screws at the hinges.
There are usually two screws per hinge. The LCD screen has one ribbon cable and possibly a power connector for the back lighting attached to the motherboard near the hinges. Disconnect these, they are under the plastic panel next to the hinges.

Gateway 200arc broken hinges

Solution #1 is not accurate. You can find a good number of replacement hinges on Ebay for around $40. The repair is not difficult and can be done yourself :)

Go to your computer manufacturer's website and locate the software/driver page that specifically pertains to your system. locate and download the software/drivers that you are in need of. You should also see a notebook system software option to download as well. Be sure you download and install that as well.

No sound from my laptop

I couldn't download it either until i tried a different approach
Go to your hardware update wizard
Choose Don't search I will choose the driver to install
Scroll down and choose sound video and game controllers
Choose the manufacturer which should be Conexant Audio
and follow the steps to install that way.......

This was the only way it finally got installed and if it says it can't find the "camc6aud" sys file, under browse choose the directory where you downloaded the driver
Example: C:cabs/Conexant Audio/camc6aud

Good luck!!
