Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators
My friend has a whirlpool side by side , model # ED2GTQXKQ, purchased in 2002 that is now just blowing hot air in both the freezer and the refrigerator. Should they even bother to pay for a technician to come out to do a diagnostic, or purchase thier friend's 2 year old GE Profile Bottom freezer, barn door for $400?
First, you must determine if the compressor is running. The compressor is located at the bottom of the unit in the rear. Feel for motor heat and slight vibration. If it is cool then the problem may be an inexpensive start relay. If the compressor is very hot, the start relay could also be the problem or the motor has seized. Find the wiring diagram in the rear of the unit to replace this relay which should be availible at your local refrigeration supplie house.
