SOURCE: volume control blew out

i hade the same problem with the same unit and fixed it my self.
turns out the chip that is screwed to the heat sink was blown, and the resister that controles the fan burnt as well.all i did is ,get a datasheet of the unit and toke if apart went to the parts store and bought what was needed. the chip that is screwed to the heat sink has a part number on it whitch if you cant find the same can be switched with equivilant chip (find a datasheet of chip).
then my fan would not run ,i notesed that the risister was shot , the resister is color code witch means the resisters values. its a prety big job since the reciever has to be almost completely taken apart but very worth while .its ben workin like new for about 4 years since the repair with no problems or isues. hope this helps ad good luke.

SOURCE: I have a Technics AV control stereo receiver

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

HOW CAN I CONNECT A MIXER TO A TECHNICS SA-DX940 AV

I used the manual downloaded from http://www.manuals365.com/technics/sadx940.html

Try using the final stereo output of the mixer as the input to the CD or Tape or VCR inputs.and use the switches on the fromt of the DX940 as necessary.
The specificatios state input sensitivity is 27 mY so your mixer needs a low output..
No reason it shouldn't work.

How do I connect to computer for music?

Please clarrify? Do you want to connect your computer to a amplifier and play music from your computer through the amplifier? If that is the case, you will need to get yourself a cable from your local sound shop. Ask for a "Stereo to RCA" cable. Plug the stereo jack into the back of your computer (where you would normally plug in your desktop speakers) and plug the RCA cables into one of your open channels on your amp. And there you go
