Question about Stanley Bostitch AB-9048025 Check Valve

1 Answer

Bostitch AB-9048025 What's it made of?

Had a check valve like this on a Clarke MODEL AC2001B air compressor. It broke because it had undue position strain ( more than the "POT METAL" would handle). Trying to find a vendor that handles the Clarke parts (out of business). this valve by/from Stanley-Bostitch would probably work but sofar cannot determine what's it made of ? Ebay vendor had some but, he is no longer there?

the added links are a source for future problems. not this time. accidently found a source on amazon, guy has only 10 or so left at this time. But it looks like the parts he has are made of the same "pot metal" [zinc] and crudly made, loose threads even to the point of excessive leaks, may break at any time. says it's "brass" I doubt it, if it isn't brass I will return and get a brass check valve and reroute the two tubes involved. many thanks

Bostitch calls the AB-9048025 a non-return valve, most compressor companies call then tank check valves. All the check valves I've worked with are brass with a spring loaded, plastic valve to hold the air in the tank when the pump shuts off. Many are interchangeable with a little line re-routing. You can find the AB-9048025 on sites like Also, on that site, you can put "tank check valve" in the parts search box and get a list of valves available and most have pictures of them so you can see what you'd be working with.

SOURCE: I Have a Stanley air compressor Bostitch model

The brown liquid you are getting out of the compressor is water with rust in it from the inside the air tank. Somewhere on the bottom of your air tank there is a valve you need to open from time to time to drain the water from your tank. If you are getting rusty water from the air outlets you probably have a lot of water in the tank. If you can take the compressor outside, with pressure in the tank, where the water won't stain anything and slowly open the valve to drain the tank.

most non return valves ( check air valves ) are a generic product used on all compressors
try a compressor repair shop, on line to a compressor distributor that handle your make
if you take the faulty valve with you you may even get one from a good hard ware shop as the have spares like this on the self.

Where do I get a cylinder head for a clarke champ air compressor model #AC2001B?

This company in liquidation in the US, however many of the same compressors are available in the UK re-branded with different model numbers/names (alpha name instead). Go down the list opening manuals until you find similar looking parts. You may find same pump/motor components on a different tank, however use manual information as needed. China made compressor as yours will be sold by many different retailers under different names. Look on ebay first "searching pancake" compressor for likeness. The manuals listed below should clue you in. Good luck.

I have the clark 4 gallon compressor Model #AC2001B. When I pull the on switch the compressure attempts to start. It runs slowly for a few seconds then stops. I do not know why this occurs. Thanks

Hi I know these need to be very high powered so try plugging it in direct to the mains not an extension lead or use the mains from the house not a garage or outhouse hope this works!

My air comp. ac2001b will run fine shut off then wont start up under pressure but will if you drain air out of it

There is a differential between the shut-off and start pressures of about 20 psi and these pressures are adjustable on some switches. What the switch must do as well is relieve the pressure on the compressor head so that the motor does not try start against a load. You shoud hear the pressure relieving when the compressor shuts off, if not you need to rectify this problem, otherwise check the pressure that the motor cuts in at and set it or replace the switch.

Bostitch air compressor cap 60p-of

Mine had the same problem.
One of the reed valves in the head had broken off due to metal fatigue. Take off black plastic housing with 5 screws along the bottom and one bolt under the handle (the front only). Unscrew the four allen headed screws on top of the compressor. Unscrew the discharge line from the head. You'll need part # AB-A640050 which is the valve plate assy. and possibly AB-9007012 which is the intake valve located in the top of the piston (if damaged). About $18 including shipping from Bostitch.
