Question about Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z60 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Casio EZ Z60

Casio EX Z60 camera was working fine. After a day of shooting pics, I got it home, and all of a sudden the the camera malfunctioned Now, when I turn the camera on. the green LED comes on and there is a beep, but the lens does not extend and no LCD screen function. I cannot even review the pics I took using just the LED screen.I re-charged the battery and tried other SD memory cards. Just once so far, I was playing with the buttons and holding down each one individually just to see if there is some kind of a rest. It worked once where the lens extended and the LCD screen worked fine. Shut it off and then powered up again. Same problem is happening. If I hold down the REC button for 30 sec, I get a check connections error. I am not trying to connect this camera to any other device.

I think I may have found a partial (or perhaps) a full resolution. Once I saw the check connections error on the LCD screen, I referenced the manual. It said it has to do with the external plug for the PC connect. I just plugged the cable into the external camera port, (not to the PC), and viola, the camera works. Could be a bad or temporarily shorted contact on the port that interfered with the function? Repeated this step a couple of times being sure the connector really made good contact and then removed it. So far, so good.

make sure the camera's settings are set to normal, since, the lens might be sensitive to daylight. You can actually change this at the settings, and, you said that it works fine at night or at dark areas? Yeah, the lens could be sensitive to bright lights! Simply adjust the sensitivity and you're all set!

I have a Casio EX 260, not the EX-S600

Try resetting camera. If that doesn't work more than likely there is a lens error. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2 and they will tell you where to send it.

This is the lens focus gears. They are either knocked out of alignment, or debris has jammed them.

Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z60... Problem

The power leads that are soldered from the main circuit board to the LCD are near the lens assembly ( about 7 o'clock). Did you break one of these? If so, it will need to be resoldered.

Try resetting the camera. If that doesn't work then it is a repair issue.

In picture taking mode press menu
go to setup
go up to reset
press right arrow
highlight reset
press set

If that doesn't work then send it into repairs and they will send you an estimate on what it would cost to fix it. Give them a call at 800-706-2534 option 2.

Casio ex-z60 cannot read memory card

Make sure that the SD card you are using is either a SanDisc, Toshiba, or Panasonic. Those are the only cards that have been tested with Casio cameras. Also make sure that you format the card WITH THE CAMERA before you try and use it the first time. If it still doesn't work I would try resetting the camera and then you should have no problem.
