Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television
We have blue shadows to the right of all objects on the television. When we complete the touch screen focus, we get an error msg and the vertical blue line is not straight, it curves to the right. We need to know what part to order to fix this.
It sounds like you lost a convergence amplifier. There is also the possibility that a resistor on the main circuit board that goes to the horizontal control circuit for the blue CRT/deflection yoke may have a cold solder joint. These circuits generate a considerable amount of heat and can weaken solder joints over time. Try bumping the side of the television and see if the blue line changes or if the blue color returns. If so, then it may very well be a cold solder joint that needs to be touched up. This is one of the first things that an electronic tech tests for - sounds crazy but I've fixed literally thousands of televisions this way. Good luck.
