Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 Webcam

1 Answer

Resolution isn't matching.

The program tells me to change the settings on my xp. I didn't make any changes in the first place and the cam was working fine. So I changed the settings and still the same message. Something about 800 to 600 and a 16 bit recommendation. I'm going in circles.

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

What do you mean by "changed the resolution"?

I want my monitor to work once again because it says cannot display video mode? i dont understand help me?

You didn't say which OS you're running. However, it looks like you need to restart your computer in safe mode. This URL explains how to get in safe mode. When the computer boots the video it will look a bit grainy and you won't be able to see the entire desktop without using the scroll bars.

Both XP and Vista don't allow you to perform such an operation through the regular procedure and, as a result, you will only be able to get a screen resolution of 800×600 with the consequence that some icons and programs won't be displayed correctly. This is because Safe Mode just loads only basic services and drivers which are strictly necessary for Windows to run.

Fortunately, by employing the following techniques, you can get around this restriction permitting you to get whatever screen resolution you want.

Windows XP:
  1. Right click on your desktop.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Under Screen Resolution, drag the pointer to the right (where higher resolutions are located).
  5. Click Advanced.
  6. On the new window click OK, without modifying anything.
  7. Done, you should have successfully changed the resolution settings.
Windows Vista:
  1. Right click on your desktop.
  2. Click Personalize.
  3. Click Display Settings.
  4. Under Resolution, drag the pointer to the right (where higher resolutions are located).
  5. Click Advanced Settings.
  6. On the new window click OK, without modifying anything.
  7. Done, you should have successfully change the resolution settings.

  1. Change your screen resolution.
    • 1 Right click on the desktop and choose "Properties" (XP) or "Personalize" (Vista.).
    • 2 In XP click on the "Settings tab, and in Vista click on "Display Settings."
    • 3 Adjust the resolution slider to the right or left (right will set a higher resolution, left lower resolution) and then click "Apply." The screen will change to the new resolution.
    • 4 Click "Yes" to accept the changes.
Alter the text size in the program you are running.
    • 1 Alter the text size in the program you are running. Many programs have their own font-size settings that can often be altered in a view, settings or options menu.
    • 2 Look for an option to change font size or zoom. Often you can click on a "View" menu and then click "Zoom."
    • 3 Zoom to the required size. (For many programs, you can hold down the "control" key and then use the mouse wheel to automatically zoom in and out.)
Alter your computer's DPI scale setting in Vista.
    • 1 Right click your desktop.
    • 2 Select "Personalize" then "Adjust font size (DPI)," then "Custom DPI."
    • 3 Enter a number between 100% and 500% (higher numbers mean larger text).
    • 4 Click"OK."

    • 6 Restart your computer.
Alter your computer's DPI scale setting in XP.
    • 1 Right click your desktop.
    • 2 Select "Properties," "Settings," "Advanced."
    • 3 Click on the DPI setting you want to use in the drop-down list or select "Custom DPI Setting (other)" and enter your own number.

How do I get the websites to fit screen instead of having to scroll back and forth

Change your resolution until you get the one that works for you. You probably need to go to a lower resolution. Right click on an empty space on the desktop and then left click on properties in XP. On Vista right click and choose personalize, then Display Settings. In XP click on the Settings tab and change the resolution with the slider. Click Apply when you have what you want. In Vista match your monitor with the one displayed and then change the settings.

Its probably your screen resolution, you probably want it set to something with a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio so 1280x768 or 1280x960 or if you are like me and like lots of real estate 1920x1200
