Look for socket to be bent or moved out of position---happens when replacement lamp is installed.

In my case, to be more specific, the male socket fitting on the new lamp is held in a fixed place in the lamp housing by a small philips screw. When this screw is loosened the male socket fitting position can be adjusted. In my case I had to move the socket outward about 1/4" to come anywhere near matching up with the female socket in the TV. The only way you can know this is if you take the back off the TV and remove the outer housing part to see what's going on.

I'm sure they made it that way for a reason. Unless you know the specifications will match, don't try to jerry-rig it to fit.

My Lamp won't ignite. At first my TV was just turning off on its own so I bought a new lamp. Now when I turn it on it just hums in the back and the light doesn't even come on, then it turns...

If the hum came in front of the lamp housing, the fault came from the faulty color wheel. Replace this part and your unit will back to normal operation again.

How do i remove lamp to replace it? Thank you

Hello there,
Please follow the steps below to be able to replace the lamp,
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. Turn off the engine.
  2. Remove the four pushpins located on the underside of the protective shield on the front of the vehicle. Remove the protective shield from the vehicle.
  3. Reach behind the front bumper area from under the vehicle to access the lamp housing.
  4. Remove the largest bulb socket from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb by lifting the two plastic clips at the base of the bulb.
  5. Pull the burned-out bulb out. Replace it with a new bulb by pushing the new bulb directly into the socket. Reconnect the electrical connector to the socket. Place the socket back into the housing. Rotate it clockwise to secure it in place.
  6. Reattach the protective shield to the front of the vehicle by reinstalling the pushpins.
Hope this helped. Goodluck Elect_Comp

1997 Audi a4. Replacing thermostat. Can't get the housing off due to Cam belt in the way. How do I remove the belt? It's not the belt that runs off the alternator. It's a wider belt. Not...

If you index the engine properly (put cylinder 3 at top dead center, verified by alignment of timing marks on cam sprockets and crank pulley) you can remove the belt safely - the cams won't spin. But to get the housing off, you can slide the belt forward on the cam sprocket without removing it. Do it carefully - I've slid them halfway off and had a friend hold it while I tapped the channeling plate downward and off to replace the thermostat. Then slide it back in place once the new thermostat is in and the plate is resecured in place.

I've never had to change a CFL bulb like the GE 35972 in my kitchen ceiling fixture. It looks like a squared off pretzel with the socket in the middle and facing up to the ceiling. It's been in there for...

CFL bulbs are held in place by a friction fit, but it is a very tight fit. Grasp the CFL by the sqaure plastic base and pull firmly away from the socket. You may have to wiggle it a little, but don't try to pull it out by the globe because they are very fragile and break easily. I would imagine the pins would be interchangeable with some other model, depending on the number of tubes and the number of pins. Just take your bulb with you to compare. If you have any specialty electrical supply houses in your town, that would be a great place to look. I'm giving you a link where you can order them if all else fails, but CFLs have become pretty common, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one.

Need to replace the rear turn signal lamp, but can't find where to access it. How do I remove the light cover to replace lamp?

You'll need to remove the liner for the trunk to get to this lamp, which is mounted in a quarter-twist lamp socket which fits into the lens housing. The pieces of the trunk liner fit together one over the other... so look around for the hold-down nut on the side you need to service, then the liner pieces come out one over the other.

Replacing the left rear driver side tail lamp assembly

Most of these type lights do not have a plug. I am assuming that you want to replace a burnt out lamp.

Here's what you do. Remove the assembtail lamp assembly. It is usually held on with 2 or 3 phillips head screws. If the problem is a burnt out lamp, the lamp assembly will unscrew from the unit by turning it counterclockwise about a quarter turn. Take the bad bulb to an auto parts store and get a replacement. The bulb will only fit one way into its socket. Then take the socket with the new bulb and insert it back in the housing. Again it will only fit one way. remount the tail light assembly.

If the actual plastic tail light assembly is broken or cracked remove the lamp assembly as described above, take the broken tail light to a dealer and ghet a new one. They are expensive. I just replaced one for my 95 F-150 pickup and it was $40.
