Amp isn't working but its all hooked up.

Hi tazmattiejoe,

  • The problem could be with the fuse , check if the fuse is proper and not blown up , if it's burnt then all you need to do is replace the fuse.
  • If it's not burnt up then you need to check the input device for the amp and if you can see power being reflected on the amp and it's properly switched on.
  • If the amp appears to be powered on but not working then you need to check if it's giving you an out put by changing the speakers , usually the input is the problem , when there is no input in the AMP or there is a mistake in connecting the input to the AMP there would be no output which could make us think that we have the problem in the AMP itself.

Therefore please check the inputs and out puts of the AMP and your CD/DVD player devices.

Hope that helps ...:) Let me know in case you require any further assistance , your feedback would be appreciated.

I have an advent DV1418A and my built in dvd player wont work when i put a CLEAN WORKING disc in it says loading then it says "no disc" please help!

The READ head is dirty or damaged...very difficult to get to the back of TV to disassemble DVD player.. clean read (light diode) head with light cleaning fulid or don't take apart & use official cleaning DVD disc. Look on web site for CD\dvd cleaning disc.It looks like a CD but has 'fuzz' or a very thin " rug" on 'read' side of disc.

Can you hook up a Playstation2 to a Durabrand (DUR7) Portable DVD Player?

I don't think you can. The DUR7 only has output options... no input. Think it it as a DVD player that just so happens to have a monitor; it's not a DVD recorder.

I bought a DVD from the U.K., but it's not working on my DVD at home. I live in the U.S. I need some help. How do you make a foreign DVD work on our models?

The answer is generally you cannot. The recording industry refused to produce DVDs until the DVD player manufacturers agreed to a regional system, whereby DVD players sold in a particular region could only play DVDs marked for that region or marked "Universal" or "Region Code 0" (this is supposedly to discourage illegal copying). Your best bet is to use a computer DVD player set up for Region 2 (US is Region 1), then connect the video output of the computer to the monitor input of the TV if your TV has one (either VGA or DVI), or just watch it on your computer.

Earlier models of DVD players would allow you to change the region up to five times, but would permanently lock in the region set on the fifth change. Newer models don't even have that option because it was relatively easy to hack the region change counter. There is an "under-the-counter" DVD player hacking industry in Europe, but there is little demand for that in the US - partly because US recording industry lawyers can be even more bothersome and expensive to deal with than European bureaucrats, and partly because few people here obtain out-of-region discs.

It will not open. it will not open for me to put movies in.

I'm sorry to say this, but it looks like your motor that opens the slot is now unusable. It would not be a good idea to fix this, since it is really not worth the trouble. If you don't think this is the case, than check your user guide to find out what other problems it may be.
It may be a good idea to purchase a new DVD player. Try amazon for reviews before purchasing another DVD player. Sometimes DVD players aren't as good as they seem, trust me.

Hi,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Yours sincerely.
