I had the same problem. So I will try to guide you by button push method (because I didn't understand anything in Dutch that said on the panel). If you look at the polar main wrist watch (easy to say) you will see 5 button. 2 of left and 3 on right. 2 left are top -backlight (21) bottom - back or exit from menu (22). The 3 right buttons are top - scroll up (31), middle - menu (32) and bottom -scroll down (33). Now we know the button number here we go. Hold 22 for 3 sec. You will see current time showing up. Press 33 once -- Setting ---> press 32 once ---> watch time and date ---> press 33 three time ----> general setting shows up ----> press 32 once ----> button sound shows up ---> press 33 twice ---> language shows up --->press 32 once ----> language blinks ----> press 33 or 31 till you see english or your language of choice ---->press 32 once ----> language is set ---->press 22 for 3 sec and you are back to the watch menu. Hope that helps. This will guide you even if you don't understand anything from the language.

SOURCE: new battery needed and fitted to a Polar heart rate monitor

This is really easy to do yourself. Get a CR1632 battery, unscrew the four screws on the back (dont tip the watch as there is a small spring in the watch), unclip the metal band holding in the old battery noting the way 'round the battery is in (minus side up), pop in new battery and push clip back down, when re-fitting the back make sure the spring mentioned earlier lines up with the white sticker with a hole in it on the inside of the watch back, screw down the back. After you have re done all your settings you may need to re-aquaint the watch with the strap, to do this put on the watch and strap, set the heart monitoring going, bring the watch up close to the 'Polar' logo on the chest strap until the time is displayed, should now be all set up.

SOURCE: Battery in a Polar F7 heart rate monitor

Hello
You can change the battery in your polar f7 if the battery is worn out.
1. Insert the tip of a pen knife into the lifting point and lifting the back up. The back of the watch is only pressed into place and will come off easily this way.
2. Grab the small clip that is extending across the surface of the battery with a pair of tweezers. Slide the tweezers toward the end that hooks down into the watch. Pull the hook end of the clip out of the watch and remove the clip from the battery

3. Match the old battery with a new one at any electronic store. The store will be able to read the writing imprinted on the battery to make sure that you get the correct battery type for your heart monitor.

4. Press the new battery into the watch making sure that the writing on the battery is facing up.

5. Press the holding clip back into place. Handle the clip with tweezers only, since it is very thin and can be bent or lost easily. Once it is in place, press the back of the watch on.

SOURCE: I have a Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor. The watch

There is a step by step guide in my tips and tricks of things to try with your strap. If none of these work and you are getting a signal from another source then you need to get either a new strap, a new sender or both. If you send the T-31 wearlink into polar they can run a diagnostic and see which is bad and sell you just the piece you need or a whole new chest piece.

How do I find the serial number on my Polar FT4 watch

Turn the watch over and look on the back of the watch near the wrist band. The serial number is the rather long set of numbers you will see there. You can't miss it. If you see what look like zeros or letter O's, they are zeros, not O's. I have the same watch, and that is your serial number.
