Drum vibrates unit and makes a rumbling noise

sounds like the blower wheel is bad.the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into, when the wheel goes it makes a rumbling sound, also you could have worn glides that the drum rides on or a bad roller, you need to get in there and look but i'm sure it's worth repairing

I have a maytag ldg8200aaw gas dryer. it works and will dry clothes well but makes an extremely loud grinding noise as the drum turns...sometimes it even seems as if it is not engaging...I am trying to...

Your dryer is definitely worth fixing. The blower wheel is plastic 53-0106, These will wear out and get loose. Make noise and the clothes take a long time to dry. Repair Photosa9a0520.jpg

Maytag Performa Dryer doesn't heat up properly. Takes 2 to 3 cycles to dry clothers. Recently changed elements. Maybe a little better but not much. Any ideas?

I replace an awful lot of blower wheels on these. The flat portion of the plastic blower melts causing the wheel to be loose on the shaft. I have repair photos HERE
I pop the top and remove the front, then remove the old blower wheel and clean out the dryer, oil the rollers and idler and check the glides for wear. When I gits that baby back together it be sweet.

Dryer starts slow with rrrrrrrrrr noise and timer does not move

This could be a simple repair. The blower wheel in the exhaust housing maybe free spinning on the shaft. If it is replace the blower wheel. If not the motor has gone bad.

Rumbling noise in maytag gas dryer DG110 series 01

Unplug Dryer first: Page 3-11 of full service manual at link below will get front off. The most common solution for your problem is the blower wheel loose on the shaft. Hold drum and see if you can turn blower wheel (lower left plastic squirrel cage) separately. If you can turn the plastic wheel while you hold drum still, replace blower wheel.

Grinding noise

In my humble opinion, a dryer making a grinding noise is worth repairing. Possible Problems:

Worn Drum Rollers (Very Likely): More of a thumping / grinding sound. Replacing drum roller supports is considered to be a routine "normal ware & tear" repair with parts costing about $15 - $20 or so. Its' kinda like a tune-up for a vehicle. The rollers can be located in a couple places, but are typically located on the inside rear of the drum; upon dis-assembling the dryer.

Broken/Loose Blower Fan Wheel (Likely): The blower wheel can become loose or brake off the motor shaft and can make a "rumbling / grinding sound and can run about $15 - $25 for the part. The degree is difficulty when repairing a little high, but is commonly performed.

* Note: Removing and threading the blower wheel is reverse to prevent the fan blower from natually spinning/coming-off "Righty loosey, lefty tighty"
