Be aware if using a box for signal to the set it also has CC---look in menu on both set and box if a box is used.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I am sorry you don't. You will need the original remote. I have enclosed a link where you can see the original remote and order one if you want to. If you see the picture, there is a caption button on the remote to turn on and off the closed captions Good Luck. Here is the link http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=DS24424&brand_pn=SANYO_DS24424&mode=large&uid=11872683567810

SOURCE: Closed Caption won't turn off
The following should solve your problem if you have a comcast digital cable box and possibly for others.
Hey, it's worth a shot!
Turn the TV Power on and cable box power off.
Press the MENU button on the front of the cable box.
Scroll down to the caption item on the menu and toggle it to "disabled"
Press the menu button again to close.
Hope this helps!

Go into the setup menu and turn off closed captioning there, or just restore the factory presets. I believe this model has a menu button on the front of the tv.
You didn't ask for it, but here's a link to the user manual, in case you need it.

Tips for a great answer:
May 21, 2012 | Philips TP2784C TV
Jul 08, 2011 | Toshiba MW27F51 27 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo
Not all TV programs and product
commercials are made with
Closed Caption (CC) information
included. Neither are all Closed
Caption modes (CC1, or CC2) necessarily
being used during the transmission
of a closed caption program.
Refer to your area's TV program listings
for the stations and times of
Closed Caption shows.
To close the close caption display from screen; press "CC" button on the remote control.
