How do you get the VHS tape to play with a picture showing. The DVD part does show a picture but not the VCR part. What to do?

Sort of the same problem, but you can hear the audio and can see the video only when you fast forward. the dvd side is working properly.

Nothing has worked! Talked with a tech on the phone line and she said unit is bad. Everyone seems to have problems with this type of unit period so I am returning it and giving up. Even the responses from others have not proved effective. Lousy product!

The dvd player works fine and plays movies without any problems, however the vhs will not play or should I say show any picture. it plays and rewinds, ff, etc. but does not show a picture at all. I tried...

It is possible that the VIDEO head is clogged with ferrite dust or fungus from the tape. Run a cleaning tape and if there is no picture you can use a manual cleaning.
This is a very delicate job as the tiny ferrrite heads placed at the bottom of the head drum must be washed softly with a recommeded pad/ paper- DO NOT RUB.
This must solve the issue.

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

It sounds like the tape is cocked slightly. some VHS tapes did make noise. I'd take it to the store and show them the noise.

Not likely. They probably just need to be cleaned and re-alligned. Rates vary, but our shop charges $20 to do that.
