Sorry this should say clicking noises like a loud relay goin on and of every second

  • Dennis Nov 28, 2012

I had new fridge freezer delivered by hotpoint, a new model just released for which I paid more money for and it makes the same dam clicking noise as the first one. Hotpoint say they have heard of this problem and they are sending out an engineer again, I do not hold out much hope. The unit by the way works fine otherwise.

Replacement ff makes the Sam dam noise, engineer out tomorrow, hotpoint have heard of this before so I will see what happens.

Please keep me posted. I would like to keep up on this problem with the Hotpoint unit.

  • Dennis Nov 30, 2012

As far as I can find out this is a know problem with hotpoint. The engineer had seen this before and the fix was to reposition the small tubing at the rear so that it was above the compressor and hey it works

  • Dennis Nov 30, 2012

Sorry I meant no more clicking noise dennis.

SOURCE: Food is defrosting in my hotpoint frost free fridge/freezer

Can you hear the compressor running? Is the fan inside the freezer running? It could be that a wire connection has come loose during the move. Was the fridge laid on it's side during the move? If so you probably have compressor oil restricting the refrigerant system. If compressor and fan are running you will probably need a qualified refrigeration tech to check it out.

worthwhile checking closer. noisy fan can be due to fan blade hitting ice if there has been a build-up. otherwise needs replacing

SOURCE: fridge of my Hotpoint FFA90 fridge-freezer freezes

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

It is impossible to say, since you did not specify the MAKE or MODEL of your refrigerator.
If it is an older refrigerator, it is possible that your defrost timer has become stuck in "defrost" mode.

Hotpoint fridge freezer mod no fufl 1810 not working properly .food in fridge warm and freezer food starting to defrost. Have to turn on and off at plug before it kicks in again.... Any ideas

I have the samo model with same problem!
Try to do defrosting 24 hours! You can remove the back cover of freezer (inside) and check is there ice on the evaporator (looks like a radiator) If ice is there you can defrost by hair dryer!
Check after, should be ok, but I have a bad news! You have defrost system problem like me.

I have a hotpoint fridge freezer FUFL 1810, there is a puddle of water appearing on the kitchen floor coming from underneath the unit any help please ?

its the evaporator try its mounted above the compressor

perhaps the freezer has quick defrosted and the try is too full

use a towel and soak all the water off

check the freezer balast fan is running ok and fast enough {good speed}
or the freezer can reach a state where it just melts a little of the ice monster

so

my adivce is the run your food in it down
then completely defrost it
and you need to clean all the pipes that go too the evaporator tray
and then dress them with salt

they are usually at the bottom of the V shaped channels both at the back of the fridge
and also behind the freezer rear wall
it usualy has a panel with a few screws or pop plastic pins
that allows you too get too the blast fan and the evapoator V shaped channel
that guides the water to the evaporator pipe

so it prob needs something done with the frost free unit
i think its just got too the point its gummed up

with ice and the fan isnt working efficently anymore

I have a hotpoint fridge bottom freezer and after I had filled the freezer with my shopping yesterday, it started making a shreeking noise, I thought maybe it needed defrosting, which it did, so I...

If both section are not working as required then its compressor fault. The noise you noticed must be from compressor related parts, that are fan,the motor and relay. But If freezer is getting over cold and friezed and fridge section not getting cold then Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.

Hotpiont ffm90 fridge not chilling

hi if the freezer appears to work and the fridge if warm, the problem is that the freezer is over frozen and blocking the vents which send cold air into the fridge when required, and the noise is the fan hitting the the ice build up,defrost (switch off)your applinace for at least 36 hours then switch back on,you will then find after the freezer reaches -12 the fridge will then start to go cold.

Hotpoint side by side has recently bugun making a lot of noise

Check for frost in the freezer compartment that may suggest a defrost problem which would cause it to run for extended times and make more noise. The other possibility is that if the fan is making a up and down type of noise, it will need a new fan in the freezer section due to a faulty bearing in the motor.
