Portable washer does not spin or agiate and leaks from underneath

With such limited information. It may be the logic control board or a secondary logic board.

Sounds like the agitator gear is broken or slipping. Check and see if it is compressed and making full contact withy the shaft.

Yes, that would be what they are talking about. When you start the water, will it keep flowing and wont stop?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

Some washers use a 1/2" plastic nut to hold the agitator in place.

I've found that using a 1/2" extension for a socket set works very well.

Sorry to tell you this but this machine probably has a hole in the tub (the plastic part). The basket (the part you refer to) is fine, but to replace the tub, it isn't economical. You will probably have to get another machine.

If it will not spin either, you most likely have a broken drive coupler. This machine is "direct drive" and has no belt. As techs, we see this several times during our work week. Otherwise, if you have the "two piece" agitator, you may simply need new "dogs" in the agitator. if the machine spins fine, fill it only on the smallest load size with no clothes in it. When the agitate cycle starts, take note if the bottom section of the agitator is going back and forth. If it is, and the upper part does not "ratchet" then you just need to rebuild the agitator and that is an easy job.

sounds like a broken motor coupling( this machines equivelent to a belt. part number 285753a . mounts directly to the motor shaft and connects to the transmission, order a new one it installs between the motor and transmission,assy

coupling can be replaced, you will see if you turn the motor
by hand that it's broken

make sure the power cord is not plugged into wall

take coupling and make and model of washer to
appliance parts store or order thru sears parts

not much to go on,the gasket would not stop it agiating, but it should stop it leaking if it was the problem in first place
