You're not likely to find a non-boxed-set control center amp that can safely drive 3-ohm speakers like yours.

HTIB's aren't meant to mix and match with anything. Proprietary speaker connections instead of stripped bare wire are a tip-off.

If you really like the speakers you could troll the auction sites for a new central unit.

I had a problem similar problem with a dav LF1. I undid a couple of screws, poped the top of the CD/DVD drive so I could them pull the disk out by hand. I then prised the slot open a bit more with my fingers and the plastic eject arm poped up, it seems it was stuck. Works fine now.

When I plug my headphones they don't work. Sound still comes from the speakers except the subwoofer.

It sounds like you're not plugging it in far enough. Headphone jacks have a mechanical interlock that disconnects the speakers when the jack is seated all the way.

a good guess is either part of the headphone plug stayed in the jack holding out the speakers (looking carefully at the plug for a missing tip), If thats the case should be able to see it inside the jack, so a deck screw will probably thread into the broken piece and pull it out (unplug the unit first please) or, the jack itself is faulty and holding the speakers out. Those two would be the cheap things to look at first. If neither of those end up as the culprit then either repost naming your product or seek professional servicing, as there would be a fault in the circuitry.

Only the front speakers work - center and surround do not

Yous should check out the connection. If the surround speakers have adv-in jack then you should try plugging them in harder! if this still doesn't work, then that means that some cables are not well insulated

My dvd player (Sony dav s500 system) kept freezing and now always says"disc is dirty" and wont play. Can I connect another dvd player to the system? How would I connect the 6 speaker cables into the new...

Umm, this isn't just a DVD player, It.s an amplifyer too. Just leave the speaker cables alone, plug in the new dvd player into the "video2" jack, yellow cable onlt. Then, plug the audio cables into the video2 jacs (the red and white ones). Select "video2" on the SonyDAVS300 and "video2" on the tv. Insert the dvd into the new player and enjoy. It's screwy but it works through the amp and sends the picture to the tv.
