Question about Televison & Video
Depending on model number most of these it means lamp door not closed---but several the door is warped from heat--a class action suit was settled and ended early this year.
with door off hold it edgewise to see it is not warped---note the plastic peg on the back of the door--it engages a lever when door is in place---what I do is with a Q-tip or something not metal engage the lever and hold it forward---if set now comes on you need to replace the door.
Some models got so hot they melt the door badly.

A 5 blink error indicates a bad lamp driver. However a lamp may possibly cause this too. I suggest putting a new lamp in if you have one just to verify the lamp is not the problem. If it still fails with a new lamp then the lamp driver is the problem. This part should be replaced by a Sony authorized servicer. The lamp can be replaced easily by you. The lamp replacement instructions are in the TV's owners manual. Good Luck

Your problem is your thermal fuse.It is located around the bottom of the compartment that houses the lamp. You will have to remove the lamp and take the bottom back panel off. Then you will have to remove the fan. I ordered the thermal fuse so I would know what I was looking for when I started to replace it. If you take your time and are patient enough you can fix it yourself. I fixed mine and it's working great.GOOD LUCK!!!

Please recheck Lamp Cover and make sure it is fixed in its space securely as 3 times red blink shows lamp cover error.
There is small safety switch in TV cabinet under lamp cover that has to be pushed by lamp cover if it is fixed in its position properly. That switch is not being pressed by lamp cover and causing this error.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your help, I came to that same conclusion as it is blowing one of the 2.5A fuses. Is there a schematic for that power supply? Thanks"
