The compressor rubber mounting may already be worn out. If your ref still serves you just like before, then the compressor is still okay.

Hotpoint ffp187b loud noise from appliance

Where is the noise coming from? The front, back, top, or bottom? Is it a bump, thump, bang, clang, or rattle? Does the sound happen at regular intervals or randomly? It could be the compressor bushings going bad, causing the compressor to bang around.

Hello, the rattling sound very well may be the compressor as the internal parts are wearing out or liquid refrigerant flooding the compressor. Best thing is to have a technician attach gauges to the unit and observe the operating pressures, this will determine the cause. Also the electric bill will be higher if the compressor is drawing more amps due to it going bad.

Switch on compressor clicks on loudly and compressor makes a rattling noise when it runs.

if your sure it is the compressor relay that is making the noise then i would suggest replacing it fast... it may be getting weak and will leave the milk spoiling soon... another possibility is that the compressor it self is starting to get harder to crank and or the compressor itself is getting ready to go out...you may be hearing a rattle because sometimes it is not starting and the rattle is the compressor vibrating because of a weak start relay... hopeful thats the case if it constantly is rattling then i would say the compressor valves are starting to fail adn won't be long before you are shopping for a new unit or a appliance repair man ...good luck to you...lets hope you caught it early enough ....

One of the compressor springs inside is weak and allows the motor to move sideways and hit the shell that covers it. This condition can be annoying but will not affect the longevity of motor. If you place a shim under the motor opposite the bad spring you may minimize the noise

more than likely you probably have a bad compressor foot mount . It is a rubber cushion between the compressor and the refrigerator base frame. they wear out, allowing the compressor foot to contact the mounting base which would be metal to metal contract.

Loud clanking & rattling when fan stops

I have ran into this many times in the past. I'm 99% sure of what it is but try this. Check the compressor mounts and make sure it's seated firmly on the rubber feet. It might have gotten out of place when you moved it. This is the 1% that it could be. Now for the 99%. What I'm 99% sure you have is a compressor that has either a weak spring or broken spring inside. But you in luck, there are more than one and it will run fine with one bad. You can find diagrams of the inside of these type compressors on the web. There is nothing you can do to fix this due to it being a factory sealed compressor. It will most likely run for a long time, it's just noisy.
Please rate this solution if helpful. Thanks

Loud noise

Check the relay on the side of the compressor. Has a metal clip holding it to the compressor. Check with a volt meter and also check the compressor for voltage. no voltage or low at the compressor replace the relay. You can also take the relay off and shake it. If it makes a rattling sound replace it

Comppresor stoped working

Go to the back of the machine and take the lower rear plate off. Taking this plate off will expose the compressor. Check to see the compressor is humming or is hot. If niether take off the relay (located on the side of the compressor) Shake it and if a loud rattling noise is heard replace it. If no rattling noise or the compressor is hot or humming then the compressor is bad.

I have found tubing rattling against plastic tray on right side in back.  Also found this tray rattling against frame.  You can take back off unit and llisten for noise.   Watch out for spinning condensor fan blade.  Very sharp,  believe me!!  Try pressing on tubing.
