Question about Honeywell Electronic Programmable Heat/Cool Thermostat - CT3300A100 Heater

Replacing a Williamson (White Rogers) Termostat

I just moved to a new home and want to replace the original mercury thermostat with a programmable one.
The original thermostat is a Williamson made by White Rogers, Type 1F36-307. (No manuals to be found) It has 5 terminals with the following color of wires connected. Y - Yellow, R - Red, W - White, G - Green, 4 - Blue.
The new programmable thermostat is a Honeywell - RTH230B with the following terminals. Rh, Rc, W, Y, G.
Are the Y, W and G terminals the same on both thermostats? And does R=Rh and the 4=Rc?

Rh is power for cooling terminal and rh is power for heating terminal connect red wire to rc or rh and there should be a jumper between rc and rh if not install one all other wires are color coded correctly. now the blue wire is not used.

If you are unsure about which wire goes where, that may be the source of your problem. The color coding can be confusing when changing from old to new. I pulled the instructions for my Honeywell CT3400A thermostat and found you can call Honeywell Consumer Services at 1-800-468-1502 M-F 7:30 am to 5 pm CT

Connecting 2 wire thermostats to white-rogers type 1311 3 wire zone valves

Thank you for your interest with Emerson White Rodgers. My Name is Joselito Laxamana from technical department. Make sure to connect a thermostat that will power open and powered closed the zone valve. I pretty sure that the two wire thermostat that your going to connect will not be compatible. I just installed a Honeywell 5.2 Day RTH2310B Programmable thermostat and I had to deal with the same situation: 2 wires, one white one black. After reading the edvice in one of the blog, the solution that worked for me was: BLACK ON Rc terminal and WHITE on W terminal. My furnace is running fine now. Hope it helps.

Hi! We have a really old williamson thermostat (not sure about the model but it says t87fi89i 2 8047 [dont know if it's i or 1 either]). We want to replace it with a honeywell t87n east-to-see thermostat....

On most applications for heating the red and white wires are used, however I would check what wires are connected to terminals on old thermostat. These connectons should be labled with initial of wire color, such as R,W,G,Y or Rc. If your green wire is hooked to R or whatever just hook new thermostat up like the old one and you should be ok. Hope this helps. Thanks.

OLDER WHITE ROGERS PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT. BATTERY INDICATOR WILL NOT GO OUT AFTER REPLACING BATTERIES. CANNOT SET UP PROGRAM. BATTERY INDICATOR REMAINS ON.PUT IN THREE SETS OF BATTERIES, STILL THE SAME.

Try removing the battery and disconnecting the "R" wire for approx 10 minutes, then reconnect and reinstall good battery........sort of like restarting a computer.......we're hoping this will reset something. If you continue to have problems and are certain without a doubt that the battery is good, then the problem is in your thermostat.
